Book Review: "Irish vs Irish"

The Irish of New York's finest vs the Irish of a radical group of the IRA. The Fenians take over St. Patrick's Cathedral on St. Patrick's Day under the brillant directon of Brian Flynn and his dark ring.
DeMille brings out the selfishness of government leaders, from local to federal, as they try to recapture the famous "Cathedral". He shows the bravery of the men and women, under the direction of Lt. Burke, who have to try to get the job done before the Fenians blow the church and kill the hostages, which includes the Cardinal. Do they succeed? You'll have to read this one to find out; have some Holy Water with you.
Book Review: Yet again surprised

This was definitely an interesting book. A cathedral in New York is taken over by an IRA offshoot. The characters, some you love and hate. Demille's characters are amazing. It's the same in all 5 of this books that I've read. There's no sappy dialogue, or stupid replies. Everything is witty and sharp. I wish that I had read the one with a map of the church, but after awhile I got pretty good at imagining what the inside of the cathedral looked like. In the end it definitely had me waiting with held breath to see what would happen.Book Review: Compelling Drama!

Nelson DeMille is one of my favorite authors, and he did not disappoint with this thriller. Unlike many authors, DeMille is not a formulaic writer and each book covers a diverse topic requiring intense research. His acumen for finely drawn characters and breath-holding suspense are evident in Cathedral. Although not as good as Charm School or Word of Honor, still this is worth reading. This is a great book. Not of DeMille's best but definately an outstanding book.Its about an IRA group who takes over the St Patricks Cathedral during a parade in New York. A New York city cop (Burke) and a negotiater (Schroder) negotiate for the lives of many innocent people and the famous cathedral. There are MANY suprises in the book that gives it a great twist.

The IRA has taken Saint Patrick's cathedral (NYC)and if their demands aren't met, the place is going to be leveled. If that doesn't sound like the makings of an excellent thriller, I don't know what is! This action packed work of fiction keeps you turning pages. Taken right out of today's headlines, this book is great read
