i absolutely loved this book!!!! i love how she explores family relationships. this book made me want to visit cornwall. i really thought this book would get much better reviews. i have been reading elizabeth george for years and i think she just gets better and better. i read tons of books, everything from mysteries to biographies, i really couldnt put this down. i also love ruth rendell. Elizabeth George has not lost her touch with her latest novel "Careless in Red". I found the book as extremely compelling, as all of her books have been. She continues to shine as an outstanding author, drawing out intensly interesting stories complemented with the best drawn charecters I have ever read. Bravo! Please continue to write additinal books. It is a long wait for avid readers of the Lynley mysteries.Book Review: better than ever

I enjoyed the previous Inspector Lynley novels and I enjoyed this one more. The plot is somewhat convoluted and it is easy to forget who did what but we get to visit a fascinating part of Cornwall and it is well worth reading just to enjoy the people who live there and the strange lives they lead. I missed Simon & Deborah, but this was a lovely portrait of Lynley grieving. It nearly broke my heart. The mystery was intriguing and compelling enough that I didn't mind the very limited Havers/Lynley interaction and the lack of Simon and Deborah. Elizabeth George writes a good mystery, with great characters.
