Book Reviews of Can You Keep a Secret?Book Review: I Love This Book And it's not a Secret ;) Summary: 5 Stars
This is the very first Novel I read by Sophie Kinsella and I have to say I just LOVED it ! It was a fun, light read that eventually put a smile on my face and made me sigh deeply. It even had me almost to tears at one point ! The Heroine in this Novel Emma was very likable and I felt as I read through the book that I understand her situation completely. I also felt related to some of the events she's gotten her self into.
At the begging of the book Emma is a junior Marketing assistant and although she's just been working for the Panther Corp for almost a year she's trying to make an impression so hard and win a promotion in order to finally make her parents proud of her and win their love. After changing careers more than once and owing her father numerous money Emma has finally settled in a job that she thinks will last and gives her a new refreshing opportunity at the surface everything looks Perfect, she's about to get a promotion and she have the most amazing Boyfriend in the world Connor who supports her and she's madly in love with him or so she thinks She lives with her best friend for 21 years and everything seems going great ! Now if only she could make a good impression at her meeting in Glasgow and persuade the other company to make a deal with the Panther Corp she'll NO doubt win her boss's appreciation and get a promotion ! However instead, because of lack of professional experience in business Emma not only fails to persuade the other company's representative to change his mind on making a deal with the Panther Corp but she also manages to spell a can of Panther-Cola which is the company's most popular product on his expensive suit. Ashamed of her self and frustrated Emma is positive that she'll never get a promotion and she falls into a state of depression. While taking the plane to go back to London from Glasgow and after having so much to drink Emma (who's always been terrorized by flying) sets next to a handsome stranger on the plane and while they were flying the Airplane goes into a severe state of turbulence that everyone within it is shaking, people are screaming, some are praying and some are crying, The Pilot says everything's fine and there's no need to panic but Emma who's not at all a fan of flying and never will be is convinced she'll die while she was in that state of complete panic Emma suddenly holds the hands of the man sitting next to hear and unaware tells him all about herself she even mentions very personal secrets that she shared with no one before I found that part to be quite funny ! she tells him when she lost her virginity and what kind of underwear she likes, she even tells him about her relationship with her boyfriend and how she feels he looks too good looking to be true, she also tells him that she thinks she doesn't have a G-spot and even blurts that she faked her CV grade in order to get accepted at her current work.Suddenly the airplane stops and they've landed safely on the ground Emma who is so embarrassed with all what she told tries to run off and leaves the airplane. A week later news come that the CEO of the Panther Corp is visiting from the USA and to Emma's complete surprise she discovers it was the same man on the plane whom she've told all her secrets !
I'm not gunna say more in order not to spoil the story but I recommend you read this book ! Its funny, cute and heartwarming ;)
