Book Review: Very User-Friendly, and Educational...

Hello Review-Readers,
I saw that some of the other reviewers thought that there was insufficient instruction, but I thought that this book was excellent. I was able to acquire a copy of it, at a very reasonable price, right here on Amazon! I just happened to look for it at the right time, I guess. Anyhow, other than detailed instruction on all of the beautiful, and different techniques that she uses, Margaret also includes colorful excerpts from various pieces of literature, which makes the book that much more enjoyable. Margaret is a wonderful writer, in addition to being such an inspiring artist. I also appreciate how she incorporates the warmth of bits and pieces of her family life and history, and her musical background, into the book. It is very fun, and entertaining to read, and the way that she describes the sights and smells makes it easy to feel as though you are right there with her. Perhaps, you must already possess an eye for it, in order to easily understand the instructions. I am very artistically inclined, so, it was simple enough for me. The only part that I might have wanted a bit more info on was the "Sugar Mosaic" section. I understood. It was just one of those things that, after reading, I felt like I would need to watch someone actually do first.
Margaret's works may look rather intimidating to some, but whether you are a beginner, seeking an education, or a pro, just looking for something fancier than the usual to try, I would recommend "Cakewalk." You should be able to understand enough about cake construction, and even architecture, as it seems this is one of her main inspirations here, to put your own together, after reading this book. I couldn't see this being a disappointing purchase to anyone. Even if you aren't all that great at building, and decorating cakes, there is still some seriously amazing imagery to enjoy. If you are not going to use it in the kitchen, it still makes an interesting conversation piece.

P.S. To those that are wary of nudity, I will kindly warn you that there is a small picture, on page 22 of the book, that contains a painted image of a female breast. It looks as if it was taken from a portion of some old oil painting. No nudity, or blatant questionables other than that. Happy shopping!
