Book Reviews of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Book Review: "An Attention Grabbing Book for the Busiest of Toddlers"
Summary: 5 Stars

My very busy nineteen-month old son was grabbed by this book. It kept his attention from start to finish. He has had it since Christmas, and already knows most of it by heart. With some of his favorite animals, and rhyming text, it has helped him to begin recognizing his colors. This book is one of my all time favorites. We have even incorporated it into a song for bedtime!! I purchased the board book edition because it's durable and smaller, making it easy for my son to handle.

Book Review: Great Atttention Getter for a 2 Year Old!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This great book from Eric Carle is great for toddlers. I have a 2 year old son who received this book for his 2nd birthday. He is almost 3 years old and he knows this story so well he recognized the colors from the animals. Whenever I ask him about the colors he will tell me the color and the animal from the story. His imagination has expanded from reading this book. I recommened this book to parents who are beginning to read to their child. This is a great first start in reading.

Book Review: The first book she "read"
Summary: 5 Stars

I just spent Thanksgiving with my grqndaughter, age 2 1/2. Her parents read to her every day, continuing the habit my son grew up with. One day, Naia brought me "brown bear" and "read" it to me. Of course, she was reciting from memory, but what fun for both of us! Like others mentioned, we continued the theme, especially in the car, using Naia, Mommy, Grandma, Daddy, etc. I'll always love this book because of this special memory for me with my currently "pre-reading" grandchild.

Book Review: Decodability Level 2
Summary: 5 Stars

According to DECODEnglish! ... This is Eric Carle's easiest book for children to read.

This book's linguistic complexity -- considering explicit pronunciation, spelling, and reading skills -- ranks similar to these other Amazon best-sellers:

Bathtime for Biscuit (Alyssa Capucilli); Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? (Eric Carle); The Foot Book (Dr. Seuss); Watch Your Step, Mr. Rabbit! (Richard Scarry); No, David! (David Shannon); Each Peach Pear Plum (Janet Ahlberg)

Book Review: Great for learning colors & simple sign language
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a kindergarten teacher. Students who are just learning to read can "read" this back to the class due to the simple repetitive text. This encourages the student to learn to read the words.

I use this to teach basic sign language of colors and animals. I can add a video review and show how to do this if anyone is interested. But, you can type in keywords of sign language & learning and see how simple it is to teach the basic colors in ASL. Give it a try.
