Book Reviews of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Book Review: A winner with my 2 year-old
Summary: 5 Stars

My boy liked this book enough to laugh out loud and tell me "Again! Again!" It's a simple book with repetitive rhymes, but it really is great. It reinforces both colors and animals, which most 2 year olds are at least familiar with. I expect this would be one of the first books that he'll be reading on his own since he already knows the animals and colors, and can remember the rhyme. This is the best Carle book next to "Caterpillar," which is REQUIRED for any child's bookshelf. (The other Carle books, not so much.)

Book Review: Way to Go Bill Martin and Eric Carle! Great classic books!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son has loved this book and Polar Bear, Polar Bear since he was 1 1/2 and he is now 3. He learned his colors and animals as well as enjoyed the rythmatic way the book reads. He reads this book to me all the time from memory and it is a book we treasure in our house. My nephew has it now too and at 2 1/2 reads it to his mommy too!
Get this book! Take it out from the library and see your child's reaction if you don't believe me. By the time the book is due back, you will be headed to the book store to buy it!

Book Review: A classic for times to come.....
Summary: 5 Stars

We've gotten this from the library times so many times I have it memorized, my 11, 6, and 3 year olds all have it memorized, and hubby has it memorized! I recite it to my newborn while chagning her, buckling her into her car seat, etc. My 3 year old and I recite as we wash her hair to keep her still and no soap in her eyes! Its really a terrific book! The rhythm is wonderful, the pictures are so colorful and fun, and it even comes in the destruction resistant board book! Its right up there with Dr Suess!

Book Review: Back to basics
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great introduction to colors and animals. At age 2 and a half, my daughter had this book memorized, and she would "read" it to me (sometimes while the book was still tucked away in a diaper bag).

The text is simple and pleasant. The rhymes are easy for little ones to remember, and there is a nice flow to the text that hides the lack of a traditional story line.

If you own an earlier printing of this book, you may be pleasantly surprised by the re-illustration and a subtle change in the text.

Book Review: Engaging, educational book with knockout illustrations
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my daughter's favorite book. The color illustrations are so vivid that they jump off the page at you like one of those Touch and Feel books. As a parent, I like the way that Bill Martin and Eric Carle think. They make learning fun instead of dull and provide a neat way of learning colors and animals. At the end, they review all the animals and colors from a child's standpoint.

I cannot recommend this book enough. If you like this one, you should also check out Eric Carle's other books.
