Book Reviews of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?Book Review: This is the ONLY book my daughter will read... Summary: 5 Stars
I have never written a review , but I HAVE to comment on this one!!! We bought this book for our daughter when she was one month old along with 6 or so other board books. At that time she loved them all, but now that she is 6 months old she will only read this one. She crys if we try to read a different book to her! I think it is because of the way the words sound like a song and there is a very clear que for her to change the page without me telling her it's time for her to do it. The pictures are also great because they are bright and there is only one animal to focus on at a time. I am sure she will love this book for a long time... now it's time to try "Panda Bear, Panda Bear" and "polar Bear, Polar Bear" good luck!
Book Review: Animals, colors and sequences -- and so fun! Summary: 5 Stars
This is another time-tested classic by author/illustrator Eric Carle. It opens asking a brown bear what he sees, and he replies, and the next page is the animal that he saw, and he is asked what he sees, and so on and so on. As you might expect from Carle, his simple but wonderful illustrations are a big part of the appeal of this book. Each two-page layout is a colorful animal centered on a white background, and that's it. Kids will effortlessly learn colors and animal names as you read it to them, and maybe a little sequential logic. I'd say it's a great book for ages 1 through 5. (At least, my five-year-old still likes to sit in while I read it to my two-year-old). -Andrea, aka Merribelle
Book Review: Our son loves this one... Summary: 5 Stars
When our son was into learning colors, this was one of his favorite bedtime stories. We read it so many times, he memorized the final page where they list off all of the colors and animals. Repeating "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?" every time can get a bit repetitive (especially when your son just wants to turn to the next page), but it is integral to tying the structure together. While I call it repetitive, we still love the book.
It's been almost 2 years since the hey-day of this book, but sometimes he'll find it in his book can and pull it out for a reading. And then we reimmerse ourselves in the funky colors and illustrations and figure out what the brown bear really saw.
Book Review: Wonderful Book for Repition and Color Summary: 5 Stars
This has been my son's favorite book since he was 6 months old. We read it to him at least 7 times a day and at night this is the book that puts him to sleep because as we read it over and over, we turn each page slower and say each line quieter.About the book . . . the illustrations are really nice. The repetition throughout the book (brown bear, brown beat what do you see . . . red bird, red bird what do you see, teacher, teacher what do you see) creates anticipation in children as they know what may come on the next page. I am thoroughly please with this book which is why I just ordered more from this series (Polar Bear, Polar Bear what do you hear?). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Book Review: Fantastic Summary: 5 Stars
Part of the charm of the Eric Carle books are the pictures. They are creative and simple and only enhance the message of the text. This book is no exception. The pictures are adorable. I particularly like the text of this book. The repetitive nature of the text is great for pre readers. They can 'memorize' parts of the book and 'read' it back to you. Very exciting for younger children. I find the ending of the book to be very creative and interesting and it really captures my child's attention. This book can be used as a beginning to introducing animals, animal sounds, colors and more. It is a simple book and that makes it easy to read over and over and over again. Enjoy.
