Book Reviews of Brisingr (Inheritance, Book 3) (The Inheritance Cycle)Book Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
I have anxiously awaited Brisingr for over 2 years, and it does not disappoint. The two previous installments of the Inheritance Series, Eragon and Eldest, were the best books I had ever read, but Brisingr is even better. Christopher Paolini's writing has greatly improved since Eragon, and though the book may slow down at times (what 700 page book doesn't have slow parts?), it always picks back up a few pages later. Character development was great, and some may not like the moral issues Eragon goes through, but if he didn't have any moral issues, there would more than likely still be complaints that he was too heartless etc. Saphira's personality improves greatly, she converses a lot more, and I think the parts with Saphira are very well written. Some think the names that Saphira and Glaedr use (for example Saphira calls humans round-ear-two-legs) are monotonous and unimaginative, but it shows how dragons are so different than humans, elves, and dwarves.
Yes, there are politics when Eragon goes to Tronjheim for the election of a new dwarven king, but they really aren't that long, and there is a nice battle in the middle. It only lasts for 4 or so chapters, but it takes about 180 pages because of switches to Saphira, Nasuada, and Roran quite a bit at that time.
Overall, Brisingr is definitely one of the best books I've ever read, and I hope that book 4 will be just as good as the first three.
Book Review: Favorite one of the series Summary: 5 Stars
This series has gone beyond my expectations. It's obvious Paolini is not just making it up as he goes. He has tied up all the loose ends he can and that causes me to trust he will tie them ALL up by the time the tale comes to an end. I admit to disappointment in there having to be a fourth book, but it happens! I'm glad he chose to tell the story in its entirety rather than cut it down to nothing. Hey, I love a good 900 page book! Tolkien, and Karen Hancock both found three books to be too brief! Four seems to be just right.
I love the surprises in this book! Surprises I never saw coming and after they are exposed, realize what perfect sense they make.
The characters were hard for me to remember at first, but I fell in love with them all over again in no time at all. Hurray for a hero like Eragon - mistake-prone, attempts at making up for them, willing to do the right thing, tired yet determined. Gentle and strong. And Saphira!! I felt like I got to know her like I haven't before! The perfect compliment to her Rider. She's fierce and she LIKES it! :)
Each paragraph is exquisitely written with details described in all 5 senses. I cried several times at the pure poetry and jumped up and down at the heart-thrilling joy of good characters, well-written prose, exciting fantasy and pure enjoyment.
Well done, Mr. Paolini, well done.
Book Review: Best of the three! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the third book in the Inheritance series, and I think my favorite. I was skeptical about reading the first two, but found out that I enjoyed them more than I ever thought I would. The author Christopher Paolini was quite young when he wrote the first book "Eragon", and people gave him a lot of criticism for it. I think he has done a wonderful job with his series, and they just keep getting better. You can tell the difference between his writing in the first book to how much he has grown as an author. This book seems to have so much more detail than the other two, which I love. I really like to know what the character is feeling, and the scenery around them.
I love the story, especially the dragons. Saphira is an amazing character, and I love reading about her relationship with Eragon, her Rider. Eragon, has grown very powerful, and isn't as unsure of himself as he was in previous books. He actually knows what he is doing, and I really found myself liking him a lot more. The other character's are great as well, but I can't name all of them or I would be writing a book myself!:) The story flowed wonderfully, and I never felt lost while reading. This was the best book of the series I believe, and I cannot wait to read the 4th one whenever it comes out. It is sad to think it is almost over, but I am excited to read them none the less.
Book Review: Best so Far! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been waiting for this book to be published for at least three years, and I'm happy to say that I was not disappointed. This book explores deeper into the minds of the characters and their pasts, and solves many of the problems that were left in Eldest, while creating new, more difficult ones along the way as well.
One of the best things about this book, though, is that the characters become more realistic than the boring, emotionless things that were walking around in the other two books. Arya CRIES, for goodness sakes! And SAPHIRA HAS HER OWN POINT OF I loved seeing Saphira as a main character with thoughts, feelings, and ideas of her own instead of her being Eragon's wise sidekick for 600 pages, like the other two books.
The middle of the book does get a bit boring, and Roran's point of view is pointless, since all he does is think about Katrina, worry about Katrina, and feel sorry for all the people he killed. Um, hello, if you decide you're going to fight for the Varden, just get over your fears and fight!
In the Eragon and Eldest, Eragon is taught everything by old, smart people. In this book, Eragon learns to fend for himself and teaches himself many good life lessons along the way. Over all, Brisingr is a great fantasy book for all to enjoy.
Book Review: Jumping one Summary: 5 Stars
"Brisingr!"...and the sword lit up.
He still doesn't understand why he was chosen, and now he is trying to save all of Alagaesia. What he does know is that he is one of the most powerful people alive.
A couple of years ago a dragon egg appeared to Eragon and now he is working with the Varden, a band of rebels, to take down the evil king, Galbatorix. Eragon's life is swirling around him after the last book ended with Eragon learning that his father was Morzan, leader of the foresworn. Meanwhile, his cousin, Roran, is having a hard time fighting his many battles after being recently married. Eragon participates in many battles and political arguments throughout the book.
This is a fantasy novel that touches your heart and makes you drool for more, but before you read this book you should read the first two books of the series Eragon and Eldest. I can't wait for the fourth book. I believe the theme of this book is friendship because Eragon almost always puts friends and family first. Any reader who loves a heart pounding fantasy novel should read this book. Christopher Paolini wrote Brisingr in such a way that it makes you feel right there. You feel Eragon's wounds with him. If you love magic and an amazing read then Brisingr is for you.
