Brian is a 13 year old boy who is sent out to reenact his journey in the wilderness. (This is the second book in the series and you really should read Hatchet first.)But this time he is not alone. In the second book, Brian brings along a man named Derek and they set of on a journey. Will they make it? Well, a horrible storm hits in the middle of the night and a lightning bolt hits Derek. Derek falls into a coma not knowing what to do. Will Brian try to help Derek through his coma? Read the book Brian's Winter."

I really enjoyed this book because it was very adventurous and you really never know what is going to happen. I could tell that the author included lot of authors craft like dialogue and similes. I would recommend this book to anyone who is really into adventure stories and who like to read about things that the authors actually experienced.

Book Review: Brian's Winter
Summary: 5 Stars

Have you ever thought you were lost or have been lost? Well, Brian Robeson's plane crash landed in the Canadian Wilderness. To survive he must rely on his intelligence, his instincts, and one tool: a hatchet. He must do all of this facing the Canadian fall and winter. The genre of this story is a realistic fiction. There is nothing in this story that cannot happen.
I thought this was a great book because just like all of Gary Paulsen's other book this one is on survival. It was one of those books where you just cannot put it down. The style of writing in this story is what really sets it off from other books in this genre. Gary Paulsen describes everything that Brian does as if he was right there next to him. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read a suspenseful story, which they can't put down.

Book Review: Brian's Winter Review
Summary: 5 Stars

"Fall came on with a softness, so that Brian didn't realize what was in store- a hard- spined northwoods Winter until it was nearly too late." Brian's Winter is the sequel of Hatchet. Now, Brian has to survive the northwoods winter that Canada has to offer. This book is very misleading and it catches you offguard such as when Brian gets attacked by a moose.
I personally like this book because it shows how you could survive in a life or death situation. This book is a medium difficulty for a kind of kid like me. Also, this book is fiction so don't get scared. You could also try some other books by Gary Paulsen such as Hatchet or The River. I would reccomend this book to readers who like action and mystery because this book has these traits.
What will happen to Brian? Will he survive? Read this book to find out.
