Book Reviews of Brian's Winter

Book Review: My Brains Winter Review
Summary: 5 Stars

This novel Brian's Winter is about a stranded boy, named Brian, who is surviving in the many challenges of the wilderness. The book starts out in springtime where Brian is learning a lot about nature. Brian has been in the woods for a very long time since the plane crash and has encountered many animals and was surviving well, until winter came. Winter struck with surprise to Brian and he had to figure out how to survive. Brian learns many survival skills and tips through the time he was in the woods and taught me many things, too.
This book was easy to understand and it gave you many different kinds of pictures to visualize in your head. This book was not only a book to just read and never read again, this book taught me many different kinds of skills that I would use if I were stranded in the wilderness. Also this book gets even better if you re-read the chapters that you already read because sometimes there is some really cool things that you missed.
One of the skills that I learned is how you can through dirt over a fire and make coals. Another one is that you can use flint rock to make fire and bowen arrows. Some dislikes that I had about the book was on how Gary Paulsen used a couple of old-time-words that no one ever would use today. Besides that I think that this is a great book and I would rate it a 5 out of 5 because I thought that this book was very good and I could never put it down. I always wanted to keep reading ahead.

Book Review: briams winter
Summary: 5 Stars

The book Brians winter by Gary Paulsen. The book takes place from late summer to winter the main character is Brian, Brian is 13 years old when his plan crashed on an island. He lives in the wilderness for about 94 days and during that time he encounters many obstacles like a charging moose vary cold wind and lots of snow. He also makes some friends as in a skunk he starts to talk to it like it is a person brian also lears a lot more many skills he maks bows and arrows a lance he uses skin from the animals and heats them up so he streches them out and lets the dry and uses it as clothing.
I really like this book a lot just because the way Gary gets into the mind of the reader and puts a good visual in my head. He writes the book in second person view witch I like a lot. But some bad things about the book is that the book is a little short it would be a lot better if it was a little longer. Another dislike of the book it is the ending is really weird.
On a scale of one to ten as ten being the best I rate this book a nine. It really made an effect on me and the way he rites to connect to the reader. The genera is a realistic fiction. It is also a good way to get survival tips for if you are ever lost in a forest or in the wilderness. I would recommend this book to many people if I knew a lot of people.

Book Review: Outdoor Adventures
Summary: 5 Stars

...Brian is stranded on a lake in the Canadian Wilderness after the prop plane he is in crashed landed into a lake. Brian had only a few things that he salvages from the plane to survive. Brian has to learn to hunt, fish, and live off the land so he can survive in the dangerous wilderness that he is stuck in until someone finds him and brings him to safety.

Brian's Winter had a very interesting way of keeping me into the book. I really liked how Gary Paulsen made suspenseful situations for Brian to struggle through. I also liked how Gary kept all the scenes realistic. If the scenes weren't realistic the book wouldn't have turned out as good as it did. Another thing that appealed to me were the encounters that Brian has to deal with, some of the animals that he encounters are skunks, bears, moose, and deer. Those scenes were very suspenseful and it kept me wanting to keep on reading. Overall this book is one of the best books I have ever read and I assure you that you'll like this book too.

I would recommend this book to people who like action adventure books. Anybody who likes being in the outdoors Brian's Winter is the perfect books for people who like that. On the other hand I think anyone can relate to this book in some way and would enjoy reading it.

Book Review: 12 year old from KY says YES to Brian's Winter
Summary: 5 Stars

The only character in this book is Brian. He is a thirteen year old boy. In the book Hatchet, he gets lost in the woods of Canada. Well thats what happens in this book only, he returns on his own, in my book Brian's Winter, the sequal to Hatchet. Now he has to do it all over again, survive. The title is Brian's Winter, the author is Gary Paulson, writer of the award-winning Hatchet. The minute you open this book you know it is by Gary Paulson, because he is a adventrous writer. He discribes every scene like it is the end of the book. You can just see Brian cutting through the deer or the burning fire, it is incredible. In this book Brian tries to survive in the Canadian winter, hunt for food, start fires, everything from A to Z. Reling on insticts and intellegense, he must go on, winter or no winter. This book has many strengths, if I tried to tell them all, I would be here all day, but I'll list a few. It has great desription as you read, and the way Gary Paulson writes it seems as if you are there. Here is a quote I especially liked, "It will be here when you get back, we'll keep the soup hot". What does this mean, where is Brian going, does he get back okay? You'll just have to read it.
