Book Reviews of Brian's WinterBook Review: brian's knowledge Summary: 5 Stars
This was a good book because it stays on one characters and does not skip around. I think Gary was on his right mind to publish this novel because it makes sense and Gary stays on one track not two. I think that anybody should read this book because it is a adventurous to young people like myself.I would recomend young people to read this book. It is cool how he finds ways to make things to stay alive and worm during the winter. This book is good, because if you were in the forest trapped you would know how to stay alive if you read this book. It would teach you how and what to do in a situation like what Brian was in. I like this book because it stays on one character and does not skip to his dad or mom or the serch and rescue team.
Book Review: Brian's Winter Summary: 5 Stars
Brian's WinterTo begin with, the novel Brian's Winter took place in the wilderness. The author of this book is Gary Paulsen. Brian Robeson got stranded in the wilderness all by himself. Brian had to learn how to survive on his own. He had a hatchet and a gun and some other survival gear, but most of it he had made on his own. I think the purpose of Gary Paulsen writing this novel was to mostly give survival tips on how to survive in the wilderness on your own. I also believe he wrote this novel to tell people that if a teenager can survive in the wilderness all alone, anyone can. The literary element that I think Gary Paulsen handled best is the setting, because in this novel you can actually see what is happening. The main character in Brian's Winter is Brian Robeson. If I got stranded in the wilderness all by myself and got one wish to bring someone into the wilderness with me I would bring Brian, because he lived in the wilderness a very long time, and he knows what to do in every kind of situation. In Brian's Winter there are really no ways in which I disliked the book. I would rate Brian's Winter a five out of five because it describes every little detail. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend, because it is easy to comprehend, and you can easily visualize what is happening in the novel. In conclusion, I feel that Brian's Winter was a very interesting book. I had gotten a lot interesting survival tips while reading this book. If I had ever got lost in the wilderness I would pretty much know what to do now that I had read this novel.
Book Review: Cold Winter Summary: 5 Stars
Cold Winter Brian a thirteen year old boy doing what he can to survive the harsh winter in the strange new world. Brian was going to visit his dad in Canada for the summer. But a tragic freak accident happened causing the plane to go down in the middle of nowhere. Brian was the only one to survive the crash. He also had survived the summer. But Fall had come and he started to notice the changes slowly. Brian knew he had to get ready for winter because he did not know how bad of a winter would come. So he started to gather supplies he would need. First Brian made things that would help him survive the winter cold. Next, he learned on how to fight and survive in the new this new world. Third, Brian learned the many skills he would need to know. Finally, Brian learned what he was truly capable of doing. Still in the winter stranded alone Brian must still survive. Gary Paulsen had done an excellent job with this story. He made it seem very realistic. He was very descriptive and wrote very well. But he could have made the story a little longer and some of the chapters a little longer. Gray had made Brain an excellent character; he hadn't made him very good mentally. But other wise Brian was a well-written character. I would rate it at 4 stars out of 4, because of how well written the story was and how well written Brian was. This Story would be recommended for everyone and a lot of beginner readers, because how well written the plot was. Also for the beginner readers it's good because how descriptive Gray Paulsen had been for the story.
Book Review: Brian's Winter Summary: 5 Stars
Brian's Winter Beth Kickels A-4 Brian's Winter, written by Gary Paulsen, is about a thirteen year old boy who had to learn how to survive out in the wilderness by himself, after his plane crashed in the summer. The longer he stayed in the wilderness he realizes that its becoming winter. Also Brian noticed that he has to learn how to hunt for food out in the wilderness, be by himself, and in the later chapters of the book learn how to stay warm. Brian got through a lot of problems such as the food crisis and how he hunted the moose and deer later on in the book, but most of all Brian got through the troubles of keeping himself warm. He made an airtight shelter, a warm fire, and if it weren't for Brian hunting the rabbits, deer, and the moose he wouldn't have all the warm clothing that he made out of the skins of those animals, and also I doubt he would have survived the rest of the winter. All in all I did like this book and how they had such GOOD descriptions. But the thing I didn't like about this book was the ending and how it didn't really go well with the book. It was a good ending I would say but the pages leading into the end of the book were a little hard to understand. My rating of this book would have to be on a scale from 1-5 (1 being horrible and 5 being excellent) a 5 because this book had so many great descriptions and details. But also I gave it a 5 because this was the only fiction book that I read that seemed so real. I mean if I didn't know that it was fiction I would have thought that this was a non-fiction book.
