The first step in any learning or any healing is to access one's core energy. These simple exercises, designed to help children learn better, also help adults to get the energy in their body flowing through the proper pathways, called "proper polarization" in technical terms. The effect of these elegant, very easy interventions, is profound. We call the process "getting centered" in the new field of energy psychology, because before we can do anything that lasts, we need the person's physical body aligned with the energy field around it.
I use these interventions all the time in my practice and highly recommend this simple book--for children of all ages!
