Book Reviews of Bone: One Volume EditionBook Review: Best Bone collection yet! Summary: 5 StarsSmith's master piece all in one book. This series is rich in storytelling, creativity, and is great for both children and adults. This is perhaps the best underground comic you will ever come across.
Book Review: My son LOVES this book! Summary: 5 StarsMy son has been reading this book for two months, over and over again. I have to admit that I am enjoying the story (and artwork) too. He now has several of his friends hooked too, starting a "Bone Club" in his second grade class, and has (with some technical help) created word seach puzzles for his Club. I gave it five thumbs up because it not only helped my son rediscover reading. It's a good read AND it's a good reread.
Book Review: BONE...Good Clean FUN ! ! ! Summary: 5 StarsAll I can say is..."I can't imagine someone not liking this book"...it's got it all..you can't go wrong with BONE...buy it,read it,enjoy!!!
Book Review: Stupid, stupid rat creatures! Summary: 5 StarsI had seen this "Bone" character before, but it never registered enough with me to pursue finding out more about it. However, when Jeff Smith was announced to be doing "Shazam and the Monster Society of Evil", there was significant talk on the comics boards about "Bone" that I decided to check the character out. And when I heard about this book, which collects all of the stories in one volume, I was all over it.
This is an all-ages story that has epic written all over it. At a little over 1,300 pages, that goes without saying. And this book tells the complete story. There is no needing to find another book. You have it all here, from being thrown out of Boneville to ... the end. While this is "fantasy", with the inclusion of magic, dragons, and the like, a person who does not like fantasy can easily read and enjoy the tale. At least, this fantasy disliker did.
The black and white drawings range from simplistic (the Bones) to the complex (Thorn, sometimes), all on the same panel. There is no need for color, and the original works were black and white as well. Anything with color has had it added to the original work. The writing is superb and unassuming. There are a few jokes that only a grown-up reader will get, but like a good Warner Bros. cartoon, the young participant doesn't know they missed a joke.
This is a great bargain for a great story. After seeing how much I was enjoying this, my wife said she placed "dibs" on the book and put her Harry Potter re-read aside to enjoy Bone. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what else can.
Book Review: Wow! :) Summary: 5 StarsThis book was incredible! As far as graphic Novels go, this one is definitely up at the top of my list. As soon as I opened it, I couldnt put it down! Full of humor, great characters and an incredible storyline. This book is a must for anyone who hasever loved Calvin and Hobbes or even Lord of the Rings.
I've read it again ad again.
