Book Reviews of Bob Books Set 3- Word FamiliesBook Review: My son feels like a big boy Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these books because my son loves to read. He has been reading simple "stories" that I write on the computer but never real books of his own. When these came he just whizzed through the first series. I took them to his Kindergarden class because they were too easy for him. One to Series 2 and 3. These offered a bit more challenge and he loves them.
The stories really aren't that interesting. I believe he would agree. Each night he gets to read a book to me then I read a book to him. He feels much more involved in bedtime storytime.
Great series.
Book Review: My Son Likes to Read These Summary: 4 Stars
My son likes to read these and feels like he is reading a book rather than just words or sentences; however, not enough emphasis on phonics, decoding, or comprehension. I am using these books as a tool to go along with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. The guidelines for parents are not clear or detailed enough.
But, like I said, I got the books for a good price, and my son enjoys that he is reading me a book (even though he still needs help with most of them).
Book Review: Much harder than sets 1 and 2 Summary: 4 Stars
We love the bob books at our house. My son just turned 4 and had completed the first two sets, so I bought set three and the kindergarten sight word set. Set three is quite a bit harder than the first two sets. The kindergarten sight word set is much easier than set 3, so we are going to do that set first and then move on to this one.
Book Review: Nice for learning to read Summary: 4 Stars
My 5-year old has all 3 sets of these books. Set 1 is for beginning readers (very simple words) and set 2 works well for little children who can manage sounding out short words; Set 3 is likely best for an advanced Kindergartner. My daughter loves to read to me now, and these are perfect for that. Short and sweet books.
Book Review: Good phonics focus Summary: 4 Stars
As a 1st grade teacher, these books are indispensable for my emerging readers who still need a short, quickie book that allows them to focus their skills on basic decoding and sight words. The pictures are a delight and the kids feel very comfortable with these.
