Book Reviews of Bob Books, Set 1: Beginning ReadersBook Review: Good and reliable begining ESL begining reader Summary: 5 Stars
It is really very good collection. As a teacher in Kindergarten classroom who is using phonetic system by Montessori approach, I feel this collection really supportive for beginning reading for ESL students. Each of the book consist of pink level words (what we called for beginning reader level in Montessori) and children will be able to expand their reading capacity, vocabulary and definite practicing their comprehension skill. For us, who is ESL teacher also helps a lot and it is really hard to find suitable book for young children in our country. Appreciate if somebody can recommend me with other similar product like this.
Book Review: Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
The Pre-school told me my daughter wasn't ready to read. They were wrong. When my daughter was 4 years old, I got these books for her since she was asking me why things said this and that. In 3 months she had zoomed though the first 4 sets. She was in love, she was ready, and these books challenged her just enough at each step. We hung out at set 5, the longer books were a bit of a challenge to read. But these books gave her a solid beginning to reading. Her Kindergarden teacher says that she is now reading at a first grade level. I couldn't be happier with the purchase, we have kept them for my younger daughter when she is ready.
Book Review: Slow, easy progression Summary: 5 Stars
My son is 3 1/2 and just finished the first set of Bob Books and can't wait for more. This series is perfect for him because they stay at a beginner level for so long (silent "e" is finally introduced in the 5th set). I love that the set uses some words that might not be familiar to small children ("keg", "nip") as well as names of characters to encourage reading instead of guessing. As you would expect, there are some awkward sentences, but my son doesn't seem overly bothered by them. And the pictures aren't perfect, but they're cute enough that I can't keep my 18-month-old away from them. I'm very pleased that we chose this series.
Book Review: Bob Books Set 1 Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter wanted to be able to read on her own but was very addiment that I wouldn't be the one to teach her to read. So I bought these books for her and am helping her read them. She had the letter sounds down and the concept of letters make words and words make stories, so this was the next logical step. I was worried that she would not like the simple, basic pictures and stories, but she loves them. The ability to read these books on her own more than makes up for the simplicity of the books. She loves her Bob books and is starting the journey of being a life-long learner and reader. I am so pleased with these 12 simple books!
Book Review: Great books - - - that I didn't think I would need. Summary: 5 Stars
I saw these books a few years ago and figured they were too easy, but I was running into a problem. I could not get my (then 5 year old) little girl to read books. She was reading all of her lessons with little if any trouble, but when I would try to get her to read the same words in a book she wanted nothing to do with it. I set these books in front of her and she read all 12. They didn't help her to learn to read, but they were a great help in getting her to read and to enjoy reading.
I am now teaching my second child to read. I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!! They are really helping her figure out how to read.
