Book Reviews of Blood Noir (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter)Book Review: Anita Blake Series Summary: 1 Stars
I have read 12 books from the series and was actually contemplating purchasing the next few..... until I read the reviews. I kept buying them in the hopes that we would see the "old" Anita back....but it looks like there's not a chance in eternity for that. The first 4 books were action-packed but lacked the sex. Then we got a little sex and still plenty of action. By book 10, we got mindless sex, lots of gore and mayhem and thin plots. Now I like hot sex in a novel as well as the next person and I don't mind if LKH pushes the envelope, but that envelope should at least be pushed through some thick plots, not hot air. Most of the men are "sissified" and the only good prospect is always riduculed. I agree with one of the reviewers --- Ann Rice's "Beauty" series is better BDSM than anything Ms. Hamilton can fantasize about. Looks like I won't be spending my money on Anita anymore. By the way, I don't know who Ms. Hamilton's editor is, but the correct phrase is "all right" -- TWO WORDS; it is NOT "alright" which she probably confused with "already". Her editor might benefit from a basic English grammar and usage class.
Book Review: Oh my, these books are complete S**t.... Summary: 1 Stars
Ok, this book was recommended to me by a co-worker who clearly needs a neurologist because as she put it: "this woman writes the most amazing, complex story lines"...compared to what? the graffiti you would read under a bridge?
This was the most ridiculous garbage I have had thrust onto my desk. I think the books was 245 pages or so and 200 of them were laboriously described fetish sex scenes - between this Anita Blake character and every penis in the vicinity; gay, straight, half man half dog, fat slob, pimp, - doesn't matter...
I truly can't tell if there is a plot at all, in the off chance there is - I have no clue what it was supposed to be. I wonder if the author wrote anything that isn't this puke on paper.
this entire series deserves -1 star, if I could I wouldn't even give it a fraction of a rating.
Book Review: A pain just to get through this book Summary: 1 Stars
I had to numb myself just to get through this book. If I read one more "What's that supposed to mean" line from Anita I think I would have killed myself. I dont usually write reviews as everyone has their own opinion on what they are wanting out of a book but this was sooooo bad for me that I had to write something. I mean this series has started to go down once the so called "ardeur" came to play. I mean dont get me wrong I can enjoy a well written experience but I dont need it to be filler for half the book which is what I think has been going on for quite awhile in this series. When you can get past that, some of the stories still hold merit but it is just too long to get to. I promised myself to finish the series to Skin Trade but I am not excited about it like I was at the beginning of this series. This book blows
Book Review: Good Writing doesn't exist here. Summary: 1 Stars
I found this book in a used bookstore, and I wish I had never picked it up. The plot was slow moving and filled with nothing but endless babble about Anita's sex life. There was no real non-sex related action until the end of the book and it was poorly written and even if it had been written well, was still uninteresting. Overall this book fell flat. And none of the issues brought up in the book were ever resolved, at least not satisfactorily. Overall this has got to be the worst book I have ever read (and I have read some bad ones) I ended up taking it, and the rest of the books in the series, and selling them because I was so disgusted. Don't waste your money.
Book Review: Why do I keep buying these books? Summary: 1 Stars
I read the first 12 Anita Blake books back to back in a period of about a week and a half. The first four were golden. Anita was sassy, assertive and didn't take any BS off of anyone. After that she devolved into a woman who has become whiny, clueless and worst of all -- boring. Why do I keep buying them? Hope springs eternal, I guess. The first four were SO good I keep hoping I'll see a glimmer of that savvy and sassy gun totin' vampire slayer. What I get instead is a whining, indecisive ninny who doesn't seem to have a clue who or what she is, even after hundreds of pages of talking and soul searching. Maybe I'll just go and read the first four again.
