Book Reviews of Blinking with Fists: PoemsBook Review: good book Summary: 5 Stars
Very good book of poetry.
I was very entertained by how he jumps around from one idea to the next in hiw poems; and in the end all his randomly jotted down thoughts come together in what is just an amazing poem.
Once you read the first poem, The Poetry of My Heart, you wont want to put the book down. I know i couldnt.
Very good book. Well written and thought out.
5 stars, Billy.
Book Review: A unique look at love through the shadows Summary: 4 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and while I was struck by how tender some of these poems were "Faith will follow faith, love should follow love" I enjoyed the clever perspective and the music that raised its fists screaming through the black and white text of each page. I am impressed by Corgan bringing poetry into the limelight and reminding us that it is poetry that births music and passion that breeds intensity and soul.
The paintings that grace its cover are playful and bold and I will not only recommend this book but will consider it for gifts in the future as even those who aren't familiar with poetry will appreciate this collection.
A Song Beneath Silence (2nd Edition) (Volume 2)
Book Review: Poetry? That is the question Summary: 2 Stars
Many reviewers tend to claim that this is not poetry. Well, that depends on your own definition of poetry. Its true that most of the poems in the book are just streams of consciousness and emotions, but then again most poetry is that way. Most of the poems, however, are not very pleasant to the ears. A twixt a twine is only poem i thought was really good in the whole book and that is why i only rated the book two stars. Its just not that great of a poetry book especially for those that read a lot of great poetry and then compare it to Corgans. Corgan is one of the most talented songwriters out there but fails on this attempt at words without music. However, the positives of the book is that it lets one see inside the soul of a rock legend, but then again so does most of the Pumpkins music. Overall this book i think was written for the author more than for the reader and for that it probably succeeded in letting corgan voice some of his inner demons that maybe he couldn't release in music. Anyway its only for the die hard Corgan fans out there and will probably spend its time on a shelf tucked away after the initial read or look through.
Book Review: Maybe I'm missing something Summary: 2 Stars
I loved the Pumpkins. I also know that great poems are few and far between. I think I got frustrated trying to find meaning that only the soul writting it could understand. Now don't get me wrong, there is some substance here (the box and the warmth of morning)but most of it is just wandering thought. The only thing I might add, is I think that I would buy Corgan's second attempt.
Book Review: HA! Summary: 1 Stars
This is some of the goofiest writing I've ever read . Talk about inarticulately self indulgent. But it was awesome. My wife and I would read poems out loud to each other and laughed our heads off. It was so bad, it was totally great. Amazing. Not sure to give it one or five stars. It may be the funniest book I've ever read.
