Book Reviews of Black FridayBook Review: Great transaction Summary: 5 StarsI received the book in the time promised. The book was in great condition.
Book Review: A good read, a current interest for 2008 Summary: 5 StarsThis book was 1st copyrighted in 1986, but now in 2008 it is even more believable as we see the government giving 700 billion dollars to Wall Street over the objections of the voting public (October 4, 2008, a day of infamy). We see now that the premise in this book of a secret government is not total fantasy.
I found the story entertaining and and easy read. Most of the complaints against this book seem to be from fans of Patterson who feel he stepped out of his normal formula. Well, I'm not a regular reader of Patterson, so I was just looking for an entertaining read and I found that as well as an insightful reminder that Wall Street rules America.
Book Review: Not very interesting Summary: 1 StarsI must agree with many of the other reviews. I could not finish this book either. It certainly showed its age and was very far fetched. His later work is much better. I guess we all have off days.
Book Review: It doesn't get any worse Summary: 1 StarsThe only reason I finished reading this book was to see if it continued to get worse and worse: it did. This is the most badly written book with the most improbable story I've ever read. The plot is unbelievable, rather like an old Saturday morning Buck Rogers serial. The hero is nearly killed half a dozen times, but if you think that slows him down one iota, you're disillusioned. If this had been the first James Patterson book I had read, it would have been the last. In fact, it still may be. Do yourself a favor. Find another book.
Book Review: One of Patterson's Worst Summary: 1 StarsI am a huge James Patterson fan. He writes great, snappy books; vivid yarns, fun characters and great dialog . But if "Black Friday" had been the first book of his I'd read, I'd have never picked up an other one.
We should all be very happy that Patterson has learned from his early efforts. Indeed, were I he, I'd pay my publisher to recall and burn every copy. It's that awful.
If you have any grasp of reality and want to remain a Patterson fan, DO NOT READ IT! (I have given it one star because no star is not an option.)
