Book Reviews of Bigfoot! : The True Story of Apes in AmericaBook Review: Factual and Funny Summary: 5 Stars
I read my first "bigfoot book" in the third grade and this one tops every one I've read since that eye opening day. Coleman not only recaps important historical events and encounters, but offers fresh perspective on the origins of the name "bigfoot", the effect the media has had in spreading the legend, and humorous stories on the sexual traits and behaviour of sasquatch. A "must read" for those interested in the subject, as obviously lots of research and fieldwork went into this book. My only minor complaint: more pictures would have been nice.
Book Review: The Best Bigfoot Book Ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had the pleasure of hearing Loren Coleman speak as well as reading several of his books. "Bigfoot" is an excellent survey and traces in an objective and entertaining manner the history and lore of Bigfoot from the Native American accounts to the modern era. He details all the major encounters. Especially interesting is his account of the Roger Patterson film and its authenticity. Loren Coleman in my opinion is the world's leading authority on Bigfoot and this book as well as his others are well worth reading!
Book Review: Of course I do in-the-field research... Summary: 5 Stars
It really is too bad that one specific inappropriate review has been left up here. Of course Loren Coleman has done fieldwork (in 49 states of the USA, Canada & Mexico), interviewed hundreds of eyewitnesses, and spent long hours in libraries and archival files discovering the material that went into this book and the others I've written. A few folks would rather deal in spreading mistruths about personalities than untaking the difficult zoological hunt for Bigfoot. So be it. It is part of the story of this field, sadly.
Book Review: Bigfoot book makes for Good Reading Summary: 5 Stars
This latest work from Loren Coleman is another excellent edition to the field. A well rounded look at a fascinating subject with sections looking at past history, the latest evidence and a section of specualtion and extrapolation. An excellent written and researched book including a top twenty of where to see the beast, an excellent bibliography and a lsit of where to get your very own Bigfoot foot print casts. Thoroughly recommended for the novice bigfooter as well as the established field cryptozoologist.
Book Review: Bigfoot! The True Story of Apes in America Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a welcome addition to anyone's library who has an interest in Bigfoot in America. It includes many interesting Native American legends and spans from Ape Canyon to the Skookum Cast. It includes an actual interview with Roger Patterson on the Patterson/Gimlin film and includes a wonderful bibliography. Its dedication to John Green is an indication of the depth to which this book goes in detailing this interesting enigma. It is well written and worth the time to read and keep as a reference book.
