Book Reviews of Bigfoot! : The True Story of Apes in America

Book Review: A skeptic changed forever.
Summary: 5 Stars

It did in fact interest me from the start. Loren Coleman's convicted manner of writing grew and grew into something that grabbed me by the neck and wouldn't let go! I quite literally couldn't put the book down and spent the night lost in it's pages. For the first time it hit me hard that Bigfoot may not be a myth after all! And then with a chill going down my spine, it came to me that Bigfoot and his kindred creatures are very much real! I wondered if I was having some kind of nervous breakdown and if Paxil may not be in order. But no...here it is, my version of reality just fell right off the edge of the earth.

Coleman's undoubted "idols" in the field of sasquatchery have only managed to make me feel as if reading their work was like mindlessly dry history courses in high school. This book however, not only changed a long held way of thinking, it actually chilled me in exactly the way Stephen King books are supposed to, but don't. This isn't like a religious conversion as much as actually waking up and being hit between the eyes with facts harder than bricks! I greatly anticipate reading more Coleman books now.

This book would be perfect for anyone who is on the fence of whether to think of the Bigfoot creature as real or not. They will certainly end up thanking Coleman for the splended job of fact gathering and quality presentation...as well as a few, perhaps unwelcome, nightmares!

Book Review: Don't be tempted by "Meet the Sasquatch"...buy this one instead!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a very enjoyable book. Granted this book doesn't have the glamorous cover and paper quality of "Meet the Sasquatch" by C. Murphy but its still a better buy regardless of whether you're a believer or a skeptic or just interested like me. The glossy treatment by Murphy didn't conceal his poor writing and poor scientific investigative skills. This book is much different. We are given both sides of the story (even though Coleman does seem a little biased at times) and thus, we can make our own conclusions. I must say that this book and "Raincoast Sasquatch" by Alley have made me re-think some of my earlier scientifically biased beliefs on Bigfoot. I do, however, feel that Coleman may be grapsing at straws with the "fruit crate label" theory. All in all, Coleman has penned a very enjoyable read.

Book Review: Sure to be a classic!
Summary: 5 Stars

Through the years I've read many published articles and books in regards to this enigmatic creature. They were good to say the least but were missing vital ingredients, i.e., "The Story Behind the Story." This is where Loren Coleman comes in and fills in the missing pieces. He digs further into these accounts and we get a much clearer picture of important facts and details that other authors ignored, neglected or
inadverdantly left out. There is no glossing over or added embellishments to placate those in need of sensationalism.

Overall this book is a great read and relief from the canned gibberish that emanates from the so-called Bigfoot "experts"
whose sites proliferate the Internet. Like Joe Friday of Dragnet fame use to say,"Just the facts,ma'am."

Book Review: WHAT KID NEEDS CHRISTMAS? WE ALL DO
Summary: 5 Stars

I look forward to Loren Coleman's books the way I used to look forward to Christmas when I was a kid. That is, with an almost guilty, selfish glee. Coleman has previously taken us from the depths of murky lakes searching for lake monsters to the back woods of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, scouring the skies for the dreaded Mothman, and he now adds the most famous mystery creature of all to his repertoire- the infamous Bigfoot, the man-monster of lore and legend. And a welcome addition it is.

Obviously versed in biological sciences, Coleman's presentation is technical enough to intrigue the most jaded anthropologist yet entertaining enough to capture a child's imagination. Indeed, the author has presented a gift to those of us who are never too old to learn, and never too jaded to wonder.

Book Review: Great book!
Summary: 5 Stars

Loren Coleman has my attention!

Growing up under the influence of the "Boggy Creek" movie, I have always wanted to believe that a bigfooted creature exists. This book, which goes from the early sightings of Bigfoot all of the way to the new generation of internet Bigfoot trackers, has presented enough evidence and accounts of the creature that I am now a believer.

Now for those of you "action" people out there, Mr. Coleman presents at the end of the book, a list of "hot" spots out there where the average Joe is as likely as not to stumble upon some hair-raising Bigfoot experiences of his own.

So if you are an amateur Bigfoot junkie, like me, order and read this book. Then grab a camera and bedroll, and head for the hills.
