Book Review: Bigfoot for beginners and researchers -- a thorough historical perspective.

For anyone who has recently developed an interest in the Bigfoot phenomenon, Loren's historical overview should definitely be required reading. This fine book is also very useful for seasoned researchers and for Bigfoot junkies (like me) who want to refresh their historical information in a clear, concise, overall historical review.
Loren is surely the most celebrated general cryptozoologist on this planet, but he is never pendantic, and his lively style flows so easily that the reader is captured to the point of being unable to put the book down; thus, I advise anyone not to start reading this book at night unless you don't have to work the next day, or have an early appointment. Loren's prose shines and runs smoothly, but you will not when you drag in to work after a sleepless night. Trust me on this.
And to top it all off, Loren has a dry, but delightful sense of humor that few authors can equal. A shining example can be found on page 123 in Chapter 9, in which Loren relates a search for the "Bossburg Cripple" in 1969. The searcher found, among the tracks in the snow, a spot where the Bigfoot had made a pit stop resulting in yellow snow. "In these days of DNA tests", the snow would have been taken for a urine sample, but back then, nobody thought to do so, and Loren observes: "They missed a golden opportunity." I suspect that this killer line will forever be a classic in Bigfoot literature.
This lively history is thoroughly, meticulously documented and addresses a number of questions that are usually the first to be asked: Why hasn't a body been found, is Bigfoot ape, human, or neither, and the issue of kill versus no-kill.
If in the future, colleges and universities ever offer a crypto cirriculum with a Bigfoot 101 course, I predict this book will be a required text. But as I said, it's also an excellent refresher course for researchers and advanced enthusiasts--students of Bigfoot who are not field researchers, but who have made a years-long study of this wondrous cryptid.
I bought it and it's worth far more than the retail price! Bigfoot rules, and so does Loren Coleman. Thank you, Loren, for writing this wonderful history.
