Book Reviews of Beyond the Chocolate WarBook Review: Wonderful! Amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
The story of this highschool boy attending a private school is a wonderful sequel to The Chocolate War. I read this book quite some time after reading the first, yet I still understood it perfectly. Someone that has never picked up a Cormier novel in their lives would be able to understand it. It recaps all that happened in the last novel without becoming so it sounded like it was just summarizing the entire thing for you. He worked it in beautifully. This is also something I can relate to. So many people have been teased or bullied into doing something against their will in highschool that practically anyone can relate. Students can relate because they understand the situation so well, but it is advanced enough reading that an adult would enjoy it also.
Book Review: Cormier does it again Summary: 5 Stars
I normally think sequels in books and movies are dumb. take the great movie jurrasic park and its sequel the lost world and you'll see what i mean. but i must say.. robert cormier is one of the best writers i've come across. i love his books! the character of archie costello is so evil, so uncaring that i think he may have made him a bit unbelievable... the switching from scene to scene with different characters was a bit confusing at first but i caught on. i dont really understand what was going through jerry renaults head. why did he have to "fight" janza again? all in all, maybe i'm biased, but i believe all his books are excellent
Book Review: Stunning...Robert Cormier at his best! Summary: 5 Stars
While I am partial to I am the Cheese, I can honestly say that Beyond the Chocolate War is the best Robert Cormier book I've read so far. You must read The Chocolate War first, or the sequel won't make sense. But it held me, clinging to the book, not stopping to eat or sleep, determined to read through the 278 pages in one night. The ending is stunning, mind you things are not what they seem... A guillotine, a suicide, a wave of attack against Trinity and its staff... Riveting. You just can't put it down!
Book Review: This is one of my favorite books. Summary: 5 Stars
Pretty much everything I said in my review of "The Chocolate War" applies here, but in addition I would like to add that I found this book extremely appealing on a very basic level. Archie Costello is the person every one of us wants to be: charismatic, powerful, and always in control. We all secretely want to be master manipulators, to be able to escape the consequences of our own actions. It isn't an appealing truth, but it's there, and this book makes you face it.
Book Review: I don't read much, but this book was wonderful. Summary: 5 Stars

With a guy named Archie Costello, the Assigner, who gives kids assignments to do or other wise you get his phycological violence. This happends in the Chocolate War. Afterwards there are many students who want to get back at Archie for his assignments. Who knows how far they'll go?
