I thought this was very helpful. I have purchased one for our house, the grandparents' house and am planning on buying a couple copies for my daughter's school (one for the classroom and one for the school nurse).

Summary of Beyond a Peanut: Is This Safe?

Beyond A Peanut - Food Allergy Awareness Flashcards teach children and those who provide care for them how to stay safe with peanut and tree nut allergies. These cards help train children, their extended families, friends, coaches, camp councilors , schools, and childcare providers on the safety principles necessary to manage food allergies. Parents of children with nut allergies will read a myriad of books, articles and participate in on line discussion boards. Individuals that are not living with the allergy can not be expected to do the same. Beyond a Peanut Food Allergy Awareness Cards incorporates comprehensive safety information, and delivers it in an easy to learn format. The flashcards introduce cross contamination, the importance of label reading and always carrying emergency medication. This education generates a greater understanding of the safety challenges around the allergy, and why vigilance is necessary to create a safe environment. While many of these flashcards are specific to nut allergies, they have proven to raise the awareness and understanding of all food allergies.
