This was my very first cookbook, and I've never found its equal. The recepies may not be as flash as some of the newer, trendier chef cookbooks, but this one has everything you need to begin cooking for yourself, right through to medium level recepies. From explanations of what "julienne" and "caramelize" mean, to what spices work with what foods, to how to organize a buffet table, to how to eat a balanced meal.
