When Massie hears that she is losing her "touch", she has a total meltdown, and is out to prove she is still a leader and at the top of her game. She also heard from Alicia Rivera she had overheard Becca Wilder and her friend Liz Goldman talking about Becca having OCD's first boy-girl "halloweenie" party. So, after hearing that, Massie knew in order to show people she was still on top was to have a bigger, better, and cooler halloweenie party than Becca Wilder could ever have. She also knew this was her chance to get closer to her crush, Cam Fisher. The day of the party, Massie got the bright idea to wear their "Dirty Devils" Halloween costume to school to impress people, but all it did was make Octavian Country Day School go to uniform. Since Massie thought that was so unfair, she thought of another bright idea to have a fashion contest and whoever won, their uniform idea would be the schools new uniform. While Massie, Kristin, Dylan, and Claire work on their uniform together, Alicia totally ditches them to work with the fake-nosed poser beauty Olivia Ryan, her new best friend.
I thought this book was a lot more suspenseful than the first because of all the boy drama between Dylan and Kristin, and all the drama with Massie and the Alicia and Olivia situation. For example, Dylan and Kristen stop talking to each other, and when they do, they're bickering back and forth about whom Derrington really likes and who's better for him. Also, with the Halloween party that Massie threw, Derrington and Cam went, but Kristin got grounded and wasn't able to go, so she was on the phone crying her eyes out to Massie because she thought Dylan was going to win Derrington over. Especially with the Alicia and Olivia situation, it drove Massie crazy because she would invite Alicia to do things with her, like always, and she wouldn't be able to go because she would have plans with Olivia. Even with the Friday sleepovers that happened every Friday, and Dylan, Kristen, and Alicia would all go and have the greatest time, but with the past few Friday sleepovers, Alicia couldn't go because she would be staying he night at Olivia's house.
This book was really good because of the whole Massie and Cam Fisher "fling", but right as Massie was on the verge of total happiness, she found out that Cam didn't like her anymore than a friend because he was interested in someone else. One thing she wished she didn't find out was that Derrington liked her, which made this book even better. Kristin and Dylan got over Derrington, made up, and were best friends again, and then shortly after that Massie found out he liked her. She didn't tell Kristin and Dylan that because she knew when they found out the reason he didn't like either of them was because he liked their best friend Massie, they would have a huge pity party that could last for weeks. The one thing I read that made me want to scream was when I found out whom Cam liked. I knew when Massie found out whom Cam liked, she would have a huge fit. Earlier when Massie found out that Cam Fisher didn't like her because he liked someone else, she said that whoever made Cam Fisher not like her; she would fight her to the finish. The girl that Cam Fisher likes, who Massie wants to fight to the finish, is Claire, and Claire likes Cam too!
This book was hilarious! What I thought was one of the funniest thing about this book was how Claire's little brother Todd, developed a huge crush on Massie. He always went on about how she was his baby, and she was the sweetest, most beautiful thing he had ever seen. The most shocking, funny thing that happened in this book was that Todd Lyons had stolen Massie Block's first kiss! It probably was as shocking to me as it was to Massie. She lost her first kiss to Todd, and she hoped it would be to Cam Fisher, but that would never happen now. Another funny thing was that at Massie's Halloween party, Claire and Layne told Massie that they wanted to meet two nice guys at the party. Massie didn't want to but Claire said that if Massie didn't then she would go into the house and tell their parents that Massie was telling everyone it was her party, when the deal was that it was Claire and Massie's party or else they would have never been able to have a boy-girl party. So Massie had no choice but to do it, and she did. The thing was, was that Layne's guy Eli, was really cool, but Claire's guy Tristan, and was a total weirdo. When Claire tied to dance with him, he went crazy and his dinner rolls on his costume, (because Eli was a rock and he was a roll so it made Rock and Roll) went flying everywhere!
I really recommend this book to anyone and everyone who loves a lot of drama, especially with the boys. I enjoyed this book and I expect that everyone else who has read this book have too. When you start reading this book, you get stuck in a world of drama, fighting, and more drama! I know I will read the rest of The Clique series because if the second is better than the first, I can imagine how much I will love the next in the series!

In the second book starring Westchester County's most privileged middle schoolers, the Clique declares Massie a hero for hosting the first boy/girl Halloween party of 8th grade. Massie's already hired Landon Dorsey, the hottest party planner in the 9-1-4 area code, but her parents insist she has to invite the entire class. Unfortunately that means everyone. Layne is bummed that the boys will be there -- she IMs Claire that's so "DESPR8" -- as Claire wonders if maybe a boyfriend will make her happy.Meanwhile, Massie and the Clique are fighting over who gets to invite Derek Herrington. Dylan thought it was obvious that she was the one who danced all night with Derek at the OCD benefit last month, but says "Whatevs" when Kristen gets all weird about it. Fine, she can have him. He was a terrible dancer anyway and there will be tons of guys to choose from at the party....Teens Books
