Book Reviews of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book

Book Review: I LOVE THESE RECIPES!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my favorite ice cream book. Ben & Jerry tell their story in the beginning and the basics of how ice cream is made. Then they list their "11 Greatest Hits" which are 11 of their best ice cream recipes. Next there are 13 variations of chocolate ice cream and 15 fruit ice cream recipes. There are 29 "Downtown Specials" that include Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The book also lists cookie, candy, brownie, sundae, sauce and drink recipes. In total, this book is 125 pages long. I love the thick, rich ice cream that I get from every batch. Their flavors are the best!!

Book Review: Spectacular recipes!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book contains spectacular recipes that produce incredibly tasty desserts. From hot apple cinnamon and raisin sauce to inventive sorbets and rich, creamy ice creams, every recipe I've tried has absolutely blown me away. I cook a lot and usually find that cookbook recipes are hit and miss, but this book is the exception. I have yet to find a recipe in it that doesn't knock my socks off. They also provide some key tips to successful ice cream making that are very helpful. The intro section is also surprisingly funny, adding a little extra to this wonderful book. I can't recommend it enough!

Book Review: This Book Is The Best!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tried many ice cream recipe books, but this one is a keeper. It is well written, recipes are easy to understand and put together. The ice cream recipes are rich and delicious, flavors are well varied and nothing outrageous that you would be afraid to try. If you want lower fat, they encourage you to try using more milk and less cream and to experiment. We have had wonderful results with this. As far as using raw uncooked eggs in the recipes, we have remedied this by buying pasturized egg substitute (such as egg beaters) and using it in place of raw eggs. Results are wonderful!

Book Review: What a wonderful cookbook!
Summary: 5 Stars

I received an ice cream maker for my birthday, and this was the first cookbook I bought. Boy am I glad I did! The recipes all make a quart of ice cream, which is perfect for my machine. The book also talks about the science of ice cream and the growth of Ben & Jerry's as a business, both of which are a really interesting read.

I made the Georgia Peach ice cream, and I added some fresh ginger to it. The result was expressions of delight on my husband's and kids' faces and three enthusiastic thumbs up.

I'm going to make the Chocolate Cinnamon ice cream next!

Book Review: Great Ice Cream and Book
Summary: 5 Stars

Though the recipes look simple and easy, the results are amazing. After make batches of the Chocolate Chip cookie dough and Chocolate Fugde Brownie (My favorite), I am convinced this is one of the best ice cream books out. The recipes are couple with hilarious stories from their aventures in the ice cream business.

This book is fun for all ages. Recipes for ice cream bases are given so you can experiment with your own flavors and additives.

Almost all the recipes in this book require no cooking at all. So within 1 1/2 hours you could be eating a batch of your favorite flavor.
