However, forget the Victorian picture of tiny, slim females in gossamer dresses, hovering on dragonfly wings - this is a book about the real fairies who look after plants and trees and who can be destroyed by unthinking humans.

The holistic picture of the overlapping worlds and how they fit into a single whole, easily appreciated by children but not always recognised by adults, will immediately ring bells for any student of Wordworthian Romanticism. For the less academically minded, we have a sensible, adult-minded approach to what is often dismissed as a subject suitable only for the junior section of the library.
