Book Review: My kid loves it!

I've been a fan since about 1987 so it's great to see TMBG appealing to the "next generation." I took my 4 1/2 yr old daughter to see them last weekend and we bought the book/cd. She LOVES it--likes to look at the pictures while she listens to it, but sometimes we all just dance. I can't get the songs out of my head, either. When we listen to it at night we skip the second song because it's just too rockin' but the drawings are great and it's a good value--4 songs plus a book for the price of a book alone. We just saw TMBG at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. They are nothing less than brilliant. And this book/CD is just lovely. Highly recommended. (For other great children's lit recommendations, see Esme Raji Codell's How to Get Your Child to Love Reading. Esme is to children's literature what TMBG is to children's music--extremely fun, intelligent, and hip.) Buy this and How to Get Your Child to Love Reading for the families and teachers who you know, and you'll have one happy holiday.Book Review: Absolutely awesome!

I love this book and CD combo. My 3 year old son and I have read / sung it over 40 times and it has not yet become tiresome (although it does make us nice and sleepy, which is the aim!). The words are beautiful and the songs are not "dumbed down" in the way that many children's songs are.
Plus, the beautiful melodies of They Might Be Giants (which I first heard in the 1990s with their adult folk-pop hits) are very pleasing. Especially the balmy "Idlewild" and the finale "Bed bed bed".

I've always loved TBMG and we started our daughter out with the Here Comes the ABC's/123's CD/DVD's when she was 4 and she loved them, so we added this book, which she also loves! She likes to read this book last before going to bed and listen to the CD on repeat while she falls asleep.
It's not a great car CD like the other 2, but it is a great night time routing book/CD!

Many of us Giants fans are now introducing John's and John's genius to our children. Their new crop of kid friendly products is just what we need to bring our progeny into the fold. The CD has some "kiddy" versions of NO songs and some other ditties, all good. My daughter loves the book! It delivers as a bed time read. Just weird enough, just hypnotizing enough.
