Book Review: Summer Reading List
Summary: 5 Stars
We were given a list for summer reading. We had seen the movie a few years back at a movie night at church and he remembered it so he chose "Because" as one of his summer reading books. He is 9 years old and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I have to say I did not have to make deals to get the reading done, he was very enthusiastic about it and read it cover to cover in a week. The friendships that were made lessons learned really got through to him. Very well written and engaging.
It was nice to read a book that we both could enjoy and share in discussing.

I have to say that Kate DiCamillo is one of my favorite authors, children or adult. This makes it very easy to recommend any of her books. I send them to all of my nephews and neice because the stories are interesting and have a good moral without talking down to the reader.
The reviews I get from my niece and nephews, are always very positive. They actually love reading these books. Because of Winn-Dixie and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane are the favorites, but all DiCamillo books are a big hit.

This book gets better every time I read it aloud. Each year it's what I choose to read to 3rd graders. Right now I'm reading it to 3 classes and their attention to it is amazing. Highly recommended for middle grade kids to read on their own especially if they haven't seen the movie. Also a wonderful read aloud for teachers, parents and librarians. I need tissues at the end. How about you?

This book is absolutely outstanding. I was sucked in to the book the whole time and did not want to put it down.
I just love how the girl is so kind to the dog. It warmed my heart. The dog is funny, curious, and just so adorable. The girl cares for the dog so much and I just liked how she was never hurtful to the dog and treated him well. I would recommend this book for all ages.

There are already over 500 five-star reviews - - I don't know who'll read another - - but I rejoice to concur with the majority in this case.
The book is suitable for adults as well as children, and seems to have the timeless nature that will make it a favorite for many decades to come. My life is better for having read it (twice).
