Book Reviews of Beating Cancer with Nutrition, book with CDBook Review: Nutrition VERY IMPORTANT Summary: 5 Stars
Hello,
In Feb '06, my mother was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. That diagnosis resulted in the removal of the tumor in her colon, 40% of her liver, and overaries. She began chemo in April '06 and followed the advice from this book and other sources of what you should do to stengthen your body to fight off the cancer and potential side effects of chemo. She's been such a fighter, blending and drinking her own vegetable juices (carrots, kale, broccoli), drinking wheat grass shots, avoiding sugar, eating whole grains, taking supplements, vitamins (Immunopower 3.0) and praying. She just finished her 6th chemo session yesterday and she feels and looks great. Not only did she return back to her full-time job during session 2, she didn't lose her hair, nails, develope mouth sores or get dry skin. To her surprise as well as mine, her nails have never been so strong as they are now. Even her doctor's are surprised how strong her blood work is. By session 6, her white blood count is suppose to be low but instead hers are very strong. I am not sure what the future holds but I do believe GOD's help can be found in the right food! DARK GREEN VEGGIES SUCH AS BROCCOLI!!!!
Book Review: Buy this Book! Summary: 5 Stars
When my husband first was diagnosed with cancer we felt: hopelessness, anxiety and despair. Most doctors did not give us a favorable outcome. We were basically told: do surgery and chemo and hope to live 2 years. This was totally unacceptable as my huband has plenty to live for; specifically 3 beautiful children! I started doing research on other methods of treatments. I came across Beating Cancer with Nutrition and it has changed our whole outlook on the diagnosis. We've been applying the principles of this book: natural colorful diet, daily immunopowder and most importantly a POSITIVE ATTITUDE! My husband has done surgery with success and started chemo with no side effects. The tumors are shrinking and he is the active go lucky man he was before his illness. Dr. Quillin and his wife are fantastic. Anytime I email them a question I always get a quick response. The book is a no brainer...it makes sense. While you can not control the fact you have cancer, you can take control of your diet and attitude. We have been blessed to find such a comprehensive book for living!
Book Review: THANK YOU FOR THIS BOOK! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a 34-year-old female facing cancer for the SECOND time (a totally unrelated cancer to the first one I had at age 16) And ironically, I'm an otherwise healthy individual... careful about my eating habits and exercise. This book has tons of information that I am just gobbling up ... my copy of this book is dog-eared and highlighted through and through. Having to face cancer a second time made a light bulb go off... there is obviously something in my body that needs help to boost my immune system to fight cancer instead of creating it!
I must say that, most significant to me was the author's placement of his contact email in the book, and when I emailed him a question, he emailed me back the SAME DAY with clarifying answers. Thank you, Dr. Quillin, for your work and information, and to your commitment to people who want to survive cancer and not become just another statistic. Your book has a wealth of information in it, and is a priceless tool to those of us who consider ourselves SURVIVORS and not victims. Thank you, thank you!
Book Review: Practical, helpful advice! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband was diagnosed in June '08 with Multiple Myeloma at the age of 48. He was otherwise healthy and active, however, he had a horrible diet and had for many years. He traveled extensively and often didn't make it home for dinner. When he was diagnosed it was a tailspin for us both. There is a lot of information, and a lot of it is unrealistic, incorrect, or impractical at best. Patrick Quillin's book was the most common sense, straightforward, forgive yourself, approach to improving my husband's diet without overwhelming me. I read his book and loved all the patient profiles he included. They were inspirational. I decided that we would simply "begin". I would add good things and good foods to his diet, bit by bit, in a gradient manner that I could manage. We are now more than 2 years out from diagnosis and treatment and my husband has, on his own, given up all the crap and enjoys all the better foods he is eating. He continues to be recovering extremely well from all his treatments. I highly recommend this book!
Book Review: Game On Summary: 5 Stars
Choosing the word "Beating" in the title instead of Fighting sets an agenda for dealing with an opponent, not the enemy. This approach helps avoid the "why me" attitude and puts one into a "game-on" approach. I used an earlier edition of Patrick Quillin's work with the intent of helping my oncologist get the best possible result. It is worth a mention that I did not "burden" the oncologist with the details of how I was assisting in my treatment as the oncologist spent his life-time acquiring the knowledge and skills to cure and not kill me with chemicals. My oncologist has my utmost respect and appreciation. Proper nutrition, as we are coming to understand, is vital to good health. The food ranking chart alone, found in the back of the this book, is worth the price. Having survived stage 3 breast cancer 10 years ago, I continue to use the information. Ordering this book from Amazon allowed me to get "Beating Cancer with Nutrition" into the hands of a neighbor and a couple of friends quickly and I hope, timely.
