Book Reviews of Beat the Reaper: A NovelBook Review: Excellent Book! Summary: 5 Stars
I will keep my review short, since others have done a great job of describing this book and hitting on many of the same thoughts I had. This was one of the better books I have read in a long time. Enjoyed the dark humor is great... especially the use of footnotes for the funny tid-bits of info. A good story-line, packed with action and comedy. Probably my only tiny complaint was the ending... it wasn't bad, but could have been better. Great job Bazell... looking forward to your next book!
Book Review: Outrageous Summary: 5 Stars
I cannot add to what other reviewers here have said about this book. The story is so out there, so crazy, so outrageous it almost borders on stupid, but it's anything but. What a breath of fresh air from a promising new author. I've never read anything quite like it, not really my cup of tea, but I was sucked into this crazy story on the first page
This is a quick and great summer read and I'm betting it would make a great movie. Highly recommended!
Book Review: Hysterically funny Summary: 5 Stars
I've been a nurse for over 30 years and generally steer clear of medical fiction, but this is the funniest thing I've read in ages. I'm reminded of "House of God", if Solomon Shem had been a hitman first, in a lower-end hospital complete with Mafia patients, quack doctors, an incompetent multi-culti staff, and on the make drug reps. Snappy writing, fast pace, and an ending that's amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing what Dr. Brown will be up to in the sequel.
Book Review: Léon + House = Beat the Reaper Summary: 5 Stars
I was initially attracted to this novel because oddly enough, a television commercial did a great job of marketing. Although the clip in the commercial never actually happens in the story it was enough for me to purchase it immediately. It was commented earlier that this novel is House meets Sopranos, I cannot agree more. Being fans of both these shows, I finished the book in less than a day, a feat I haven't executed since Catcher in the Rye in 11th grade.
Book Review: Adrenaline rush! Summary: 5 Stars
Wow, if you're looking for a past-paced ride, this book is for you. I have read a lot of thrillers and I must say, what the "hero" pulls off in some of the scenes in this book are incredible and unusual. But don't get too caught up in what is real or possible -- fiction is all about your willingness to suspend reality to go along with the story. Well, except the medical aspects of the storyline -- those are rather unpleasant to dwell on..... Ah well, enjoy!
