Book Reviews of Bats at the LibraryBook Review: Bat's at the Library & Bat's at the beach Summary: 5 Stars
Brian Lies is an amazing children's author and illustrator!!!! The details in his pantings are incredible. If you are able to go and listen to one of his readings and book signings it is more than worth your while. He is wonderful with children and really takes his time to describe the development of his stories and pictures to parents/teachers/adults. I can not say enough about this author. I am a children's Speech-Language Pathologist and a parent and he is by far one of my favorite children's author's. I look forward to reading many more of his stories with my son and clients as well! Thank you Brian for sharing your talents and stories with others!!!!!
Book Review: I LOVE THIS! Summary: 5 Stars
I know I'm not the only person who loves bats and books but this book feels like it was written just for me!
I love this story about the bats sneaking into the library because a librarian left the window open. The bats are charming (as all bats are) of course, and they imagine themselves in some of the most beloved children's books.
My kids and I love the picture where the bats are making copies of themselves on the copy machine and then folding them into paper airplanes.
We borrowed this from the library and then had to have our own copy.
Book Review: Clever, inspirational, and fine art. Summary: 5 Stars
I haven't read a children's book in years, but when I picked this one up, it proved to be instant satisfaction and inspiration. I love the illustrations, from the classic arts and crafts architecture to the lovely little bats. The journey through this book is very creative. It set a rhythm and rhyme in my head and in the morning I woke up with a start of a poem of my own. In one week I managed to polish up two poems after a lifetime of sequestered words. I encourage every parent and child to read, read, read. And hopefully it will inspire like it did for me.
Bravo to Brian!
Book Review: great story, gorgeous illustrations, endearing little bats who love books-- loved it! Summary: 5 Stars
This lovely rhyming story is such a pleasure. The premise is that local bats are incredibly excited as word spreads that the library left a window open. This is a rare treat, and they all fly to the library to enjoy reading.
The illustrations are just WONDERFUL, funny, and detailed. There is so much to see, and the story is just as nice as the illustrations. The bats are incredibly endearing.
A great message for kids, a fun story, and maybe the best illustrations I have seen in the last few years. You will love reading this sweet story to your kids.
Book Review: A battyrific read! Summary: 5 Stars
Writer/illustrator Brian Lies has delivered another winner in his Bat series of books. Having enjoyed "Bats at the Beach", my preschooler and I were eager to read "Bats at the Library." Here, the bat clan of varying ages [from little baby bats to old bats] are off for a fun time at the library. It is night-time, the favored time for all bats, and boy do they have fun! The rhyming verse is creative and the illustrations are a delight with touches of whimsy throughout [check out how the bats 'play' with the photocopying machine!]. Highly recommended for preschoolers and up!
