a true gem. every kitchen should have this book. i grew up watching my mom can. and my wife and i finally gave it a whirl. using this book. it was a very easy process even though the initial though of canning can be daunting. i bought a second book for a friend. she has been canning all her life. and she also praised this book.Book Review: Great Ball Book!

I haev the first Ball Canning guide ... frayed and well used over the last 40+ years. The original cost me $.50 ... this updated version was well worth the investment. Many of the original recipes are still included in the update, and while I won't use many of the newer ones, I'm glad to see so many modern issues being addressed.Book Review: Great book!

I bought this to save the apples from the trees in our yard. I had never done any preserving before, but this book walks you through every step of the process and makes it so easy. It teaches you the basics and gives you an understanding of the process. I haven't tried any recipes besides for apples, but I plan to do that soon.Book Review: Canned laughter

Highly usable. Definitely not your great aunt tillie's canning bible. I was a complete newby. I started out with strawberry jam. On to orange marmalade. Next pickled beets. And for fun peach jam. I just have to second what everyone else has said. I also wanted everyone to know that the Tomato Ketchup recipe is stupendous and so is the Green Tomato Hot Dog Relish. I used up my tomatoes just before the frost. This book is going to be a standard for me each harvest season from now on.
