Book Reviews of Ball Complete Book of Home PreservingBook Review: Great Book for Summer Gardens! Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this book!!! Lots of beautiful photos to inspire you, plus plenty of variety throughout. Recipes are mostly for high-acid foods (water-bath canning) with very few for pressure canners, but that's OK with me. Love the variety of relish and salsa recipes, as everyone has different preferences. Would buy this book for anyone interested in home canning, especially one who enjoys being creative.
Book Review: Better than expected Summary: 5 Stars
This book is loaded with recipes as well as having a section on The Art and Science of Home preservation. Easy to follow instructions along with margin notes on every page. I hadn't canned before so I started with tomatoes from my garden. I've also used one of the recipes to make a fabulous antipasto relish. Wish I had bought it sooner, then I'd have jars of peaches alongside the tomatoes on my shelf.
Book Review: AWESOME! Summary: 5 Stars
If you love to can, this book is for you! It literally has everything I can think of to can and has very explicit instructions. I've made numerous things out of this book and so far I've had rave reviews. If you're new to canning, this is a great book. Lots of variety, lots of really creative recipes, yet easy enough to make you comfortable trying it. I highly recommend this book for canning!
Book Review: Good resource for the home canner Summary: 5 Stars
This is a good book to have on hand, especially if you are new to home canning. The step by step instructions make it easy to follow the recipes. The only thing I didn't like was that some ingredients are measured by pounds. I'm not sure if they could have converted them to cups, instead. Other than that, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to try preserving their own food.
Book Review: home Canning Summary: 5 Stars
This book should be in every woman's recipe collection and cookbook library! The instructions and methods are simply, thoroughly, and clearly written, and the scope of the recipes is dazzling to a first-time canner like me. After trying out a few of the more detailed recipes I was ready to become a lifetime member of the Home Canner's Club ( which doesn't yet exist, as far as I know).
