Book Review: Sorry, can't recommend this one...

This is the only Baja book of the (6) I have that I am unable to recommend. It is *extremely* light reading full of grammatical errors, ambiguous statements, and complete inaccuracies. I knew right from the start that this guy was a lightweight. How can you get hopelessly lost only 2 minutes south of the border and then again in Ensenada when you are standing on the very street you're looking for *and* have a map in your hand? He gets stuck in the first ten feet of sand at the first beach he gets to? And he automatically gives money to peddlers because he is unable to say no? A couple of things really got me, like "after an hour or two we arrived in Ensenada." This is typical, so follow his own disclaimer that much of the information is not to be relied upon. He states that the lanes of Mexico Hwy 1 are 9 ft wide? What?! Check your facts before you publish them. Also, what's the deal with pages 34-35 where he uses the term "washboard roads" about 97 times?! Silly statements like "The morning sand felt cool as it squished between our toes" and "the soup felt warm in our tummies" sounds exactly like some guy with the first name Taggart. **PLEASE** don't buy this book if you are expecting factual information on specific places in Baja that you can use on your trip. It is full of "we drove for and hour or two and then found a small bay" statements. Another bizarre statement: "The mission is several hundred years old, being built by the Jesuits in 1782." 220 years is "several hundred?" The book itself looks like it was done down at the discount printer on the corner with no color photos, only a few small, dark, black and whites. If you want exciting reading, look no further than "Baja Catch" or "The Baja Adventure Book" or "Magnificent Peninsula." There are too many good ones to waste time on this sillyness.
