Book Reviews of Bad Luck and Trouble (Jack Reacher)Book Review: A Little Long To Get There Summary: 4 StarsLook, it's Lee Child. It's Reacher. Some things are given, like the inevitable details on weapons and ammo. Other things are also given, like a terrific premise and Reacher's busy and calculating mind. The only reason for four stars is this one takes awhile to get moving after the wham-bam first chapter. Definitely worth the ride.
Book Review: Bad Luck and Trouble Summary: 5 StarsThey say "Don't mess with the Special Investigators", but I say don't mess with Jack Reacher...
Book Review: This book has it all Summary: 5 StarsThis is my first Lee Child book, but it definitely will not be the last. The characters were clearly drawn, the action was riveting and the plot took plausible but unexpected twists. This was the best book I've come across in a long while.
Book Review: BAD LUCK Is Your Good Fortune Summary: 4 StarsIf you are a Jack Reacher fan, you'll be reading this book as Jack reunites with this MP buddies- at least the ones who are left. I will tell you no more, it will spoil the fun! If you haven't been introduced to Jack in any of Lee Child's wonderful thrillers, you are in for a treat. Think about the Tom Clancy thriller's made into movies starring Harrison Ford. You'll be flipping pages well into the late night hours. Your eyes will be worn out but you'll just keep reading.
Child writes a great tale. Chapters are short, writing is crisp. Dialogue is real and in character. The protagonist, Jack Reacher, is like Clint Eastwood on steroids. It is fun, filled with well-researched details and compelling. If you want to read something exciting on vacation, on a plane, during your commute or just as a mystery-thriller escape, this is for you.
I picked up Child's first Reacher novel, The Killing Floor, years ago and I haven't missed a book yet. Get out there and READ!
Book Review: Not One of My Favorites. Summary: 3 StarsAlive but broken, a man is tossed from a helicopter like garbage into the California desert. Big Mistake!
'"You DO NOT Mess with the Special Investigators!"'
That slogan was and still is true of the MP Unit that loaner, drifter, equalizer, avenger Jack Reacher commanded. When Frances Neagley sends him an encrypted call for assistance, Reacher is on his way to find her and the person(s) targeting the Unit for death or disappearance. With a few of the Special Investigators, Reacher applies old fashioned police work to the investigation, rather than bending and making his own set of rules to complete this mission. Why his Unit?
Child leads Reacher, Neagley, and the others through a labyrinth that keeps the reader on the edge of his/her seat most of the time. Though this 11th Reacher installment drags in some places and Jack's intense fascination with numbers almost had me putting BAD LUCK and TROUBLE down a few times, it will not disappoint Lee Child fans - it's just a little different than the prior Reacher books that I tend to like better. Hopefully, Child will pair Jack up with one of the unit in later books.
Frances Neagley has helped Reacher in the past and she is in a different world than he is now, so we'll have to see what Lee Child has up his sleeve for the man who has no address, no ties, or does he? He is loyal to his special investigators and to those in need of his help.
Will Jack Reacher finally grow up and be in this world, loyal to his brother and sister investigators while not quite breaking the Rule of Law to help a distressed person?
