Book Review: Gorgeous illustrations

The illustrations in Billy the Playful Bunny were what first caught my eye. Colors so soft and appealing they make you want to keep turning pages just to see the next one. The poetry gives the story an energy that I'm sure kids will enjoy. Hidden in this delightful story is a lesson on accepting someone as they are even if they are very different from you. Harvest, is a bunny who isn't as colorful as the other bunnies. In fact he's the color of grain and he likes to look at the rain. His energy level isn't as high as the other bunnies. It's almost as if the author were explaining auras to children. If she is, what a subtle and entertaining way of doing so.
This is the kind of book I would have loved to pick up to read to my kids. Sweet, beautiful and with a good message. Hanli Bothma has written a wonderful book. Illustrations by Marco Bester are outstanding.

Billy and his friends are energetic little bunnies who love to play all day in the forest! They each have very interesting streaks in their hair, which make them quite beautiful and unique. But one of their friends, Harvest, doesn't have as much energy as the other bunnies and his streak is rather dull and bleak. What can Billy do to help his friend, or does Harvest help Billy learn about their differences? What are other ways that you can be unique?
