Book Reviews of Automotive Upholstery HandbookBook Review: Best of the handbooks Summary: 5 Stars
I found this book excellent for my purposes - I want to restore the upholstery in an old car, I know nothing about it until buying this book and commencing an upholstery course at the local College.
It has very clear explanations and recommendations for the essential sewing part of any upholstery project. Most other books I have read on this subject assume you are a dab hand at sewing already or that you will get your Mum to do it for you.The photos are not always clear but I would rather have lots of average but adequate photos than a few very bright coloured ones, or a puchase price that is off the planet.
Book Review: Excelent practical book Summary: 5 Stars
This book is great in providing you detailed information about how to do upholstery for cars. It even explains how to use the sawing machine. Even though the pics are in black and white, they are clear and easy to understand. The examples shown are basic and as you could expect, this book explains the basics of how to. You can apply the same principles to more complex projects that are common in real life. The only low that I found is that the part of covers for doors is not explained in detail. This is very important.
Book Review: Automotive Upholstery Handbook by Don Taylor Summary: 5 Stars
I am a retired college teacher, have done some upholstery over the years and I am somewhere between a beginner and advanced beginner. In a world of nortoriously poorly written trades manuals, Taylor's book stands out as a work of art. Written in a crisp clear style, the reader will find one or more aces to keep on every page. There should be more than five stars for this book. The author should produce more books; he definately has an unusual talent with the written word.
