Book Reviews of Audition: A Memoir

Book Review: Audition
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this autobiography to be a detailed personal history as well as a historical overview of current events that were happening throughout her lifetime. Her thoughts and memories about her parents and sister are very poignant.
Excellent book, for anyone who remembers some or all the events that she covered, as well as for students of broadcast journalism. Shows the trials that a woman had to go through to "make it" not too long ago. This should be required reading for those contemplating entering the profession.

Book Review: Very well written.
Summary: 5 Stars

Having watched Barbara Walters on TV, and who hasn't, I found her book well written, interesting and it moved forward at a good pace. Lots of info on interesting people in government, show business, etc. Her depictions of her interviews on 20/20 were terrific and her concern and devotion and love for her parents and sister were feelings I can understand, having had a developmentally handicapped brother. Her career is one that required hard work and devotion and proves what a good journalist Barbara is. I give this book 5 stars.

Book Review: Tells it all
Summary: 5 Stars

This memoir has really covered Barbara Walter's life and she reveals things some felt should be omitted. But if you tell your life story as it happened, it is only a truthful revelation and she said she contacted those whose lives were affected for permission to use in her story. She has had a remarkable life and anyone who is around her age has followed her career as I have and found it fascinating to hear about how she has come to the place she is today. I admire her and think it is a very interesting account of her life.

Book Review: Audition
Summary: 5 Stars

A brilliant, beautifully written book by my lady idol. She is my favorite! It's so interesting to learn how her values parallel ours.
She is one fantastic lady who has had a most interesting life in every aspect, with a lot of pain and sorrow like all of us. However, she has the wonderful talent of putting her experiences into great words, and after page 2, I felt I really knew her. She must have been the 'perfect child'. (I'm not finished yet, but certainly am enjoying it. I love you, Barbara!) An amazing read!

Book Review: What a Life!
Summary: 5 Stars

Barbara Walters' book is not only an autobiography of her own life, but gives a glimpse into the lives of powerful world leaders, celebrities, murderers, spiritual leaders, etc. I bought the book, because I love to read about people, but this book is so much more. I learned so much about world history from the last 50 years or so. There's also so much information about the birth and evolution of television news. One of the best books I've read in a long time, and I'm almost sad that I only have one chapter left!
