Book Reviews of Apple Pro Training Series: Motion 3

Book Review: Excellent training manual for Motion 3
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a must-buy for anyone who wants to learn Motion 3. If you're buying a used book, make sure it comes with the CD. You load the CD, drag the Lesson files onto your Mac, and then just follow the step-to-step instructions.

The authors start off assuming you know NOTHING. Therefore, each instruction comes with a clear diagram and detailed explanation. Then, as your knowledge base grows, they ramp up the information. I found myself thinking "Man, this is a easy program to learn." Then, I realized that it's easy because of the care the authors took in making the learning process fun. They even make assumptions that some people may get "lost" along the way and added supplementary media to help them catch up.

The tone is light and friendly, with bits of humor here and there. Most importantly, their excitement and love of the program is infectious.

I'll definitely buy the Motion 4 version once I upgrade.

Book Review: This is a great book
Summary: 5 Stars

Now that Motion has 3D and doesn't crash, I thought, what the heck, I'll learn it. This book is great. Motion is a much deeper graphics app than I ever gave it credit for. I used to look at it as a big plug-in with some nifty effects. This book changed that thinking. It got me to stop tinkering with the program and really use it in production. I tend to loath step by step tutorials, but this book uses them well and does not forget to teach a broad understanding of the topics. So, no, it's not at all like following a recipe, it definitely teaches, reinforces (they do a great job repeating short cut keys) and leaves me feeling like a super power user wizard. Chapters are concise, projects are real world (sorry no flying saucer tutorials in this one) and its one of the few training books that I actually read cover to cover. Kudos and thanks to the writers!

Book Review: 1st Book post FCP2 Motion Manual - Great ROI
Summary: 5 Stars

Buy, borrow, or beg a copy of this book if you have gone to the time/expense to put yourself in front of a Final Cut Pro editing system. If you are starting out in video editing - your best going through the series for Final Cut Pro Editing - certainly if you are new to Final Cut Pro. If you have had years of editing experience with Final Cut Pro - it is still a good idea to go through the FCP training series - BUT - if you want and/or need to get into motion graphics and walk/fly camera view animations - make the jump between these covers. It is a bargain at full list price - and any discount is just frosting on the cake. It adds value to your efforts to produce strategic communications - the kind the world needs - get this book.....what are you waiting for!

Book Review: The best way to learn Motion 3!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I picked up Final Cut Studio 2 I have to say I really wanted it for Final Cut Pro. That is until I saw the power Motion 3 has! Being a longtime After Effects user I was hesitant to get into Motion 3. I'm glad I did. Motion 3 is extremely powerful.

When I looked for the best training option I chose Apple Pro Training Series: Motion 3 by Damian Allen, Mark Spencer, Bryce Button. I have been an avid fan of Mark Spencer's since I first saw him on MacBreak. I plan on getting Apple Certified in Motion and this book will take me there. It's well written, has real world examples in the lessons, and hits every aspect you need to know to be proficient in Motion 3.

Book Review: Excellent Manual
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great book for anyone that wants to learn how to use Motion. I don't have any complaints. There are 14 ch.'s that cover every aspect of the program. After going through the chapters it's amazing what you can create from scratch in a matter of minutes or even seconds! I don't think Motion will be taking over After Effects but it can do some things better and faster than After Effects can.

I recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn an excellent motion graphics program!
