I'm amazed at the creativity involved in developing the companion guide to Angel Bear Yoga. Having something that engages the kids on a number of levels while it teaches some valuable lessons really is a great combination. I'm certainly not an expert in yoga, but can say it is way more than a glorified coloring book.
Summary of Angel Bear Yoga Companion Book
The Angel Bear Yoga Activity Book is a fantastic way of bringing the health benefits of exercise/yoga, the expressive activity of art and the important elements of character and nature appreciation together in this wonderful volume. Christi Eley's yoga series has won the iParenting Media Awards for it's originality and new spin on the benefits of yoga. Incorporating 50 positive character traits into large illustrations of the Angel Bear doing yoga poses, this book is gauranteed to keep children's interests while promoting all of its posotive lessons. Parents/teachers can make copies of each pose so that children can follow along with discussed activities, such as coloring each character pose. Kids may be instructed to go outside and look for examples of optimism. After they identify what personally represents that character to them (perhaps birds hatching from eggs, a rainbow or a new sunrise), they can put these things in their artwork. This anchoring process instills the meaning and importance of character, followed up with acting it out through yoga poses. This guide allows for journal writing, expression of feelings and communication for the whole family. Finally, it is packed full of fascinating nature facts that reflect back to positive character.
