Book Reviews of Alton Brown's Gear for Your KitchenBook Review: Lots of useful info, from the kitchen mcGyver himself. Summary: 4 Stars
It is just fitting for the kitchen McGyver, to write his own book of gadgets. This book not only presents you with hundreds of his favorite kitchen gears, but also tons of information, and some recipes. The interesting fact is that no matter as cutting-edge he is with the latest and the greatest, he still prefer the old heavy iron pan to be his number one weapon of trade. The only improvement that I can think of for his book is bigger and better pictures (which ironically are more common with chef authors).
Book Review: Good General Info Summary: 4 Stars
This book included a little bit of information on a wide variety of kitchen tools. I wish there was more info on some items and am not interested in others that he did include. Alton Brown did a good job of writing a book that a novice or an experienced home chef could learn something from. He approaches the book with his usual raw no-nonsense approach.
Book Review: Wild Wacky Alton Summary: 4 Stars
Alton Brown is the most unique personality on the Food Channel. This book is am must for anybody who likes to cook and is setting up their first kitchen.
Also great for retired guys like me who has volumes of junk in the kitchen and wishes to reorganize.
His equipment recommendations are spot on.
Book Review: Good reference Summary: 4 Stars
Being a fan of Mr. Brown's "Good Eats" I was kind of hoping this book would read more like a story.
It will be kept in the kitchen as a reference for any future purchases but it is not the type of book you read from cover to cover.
Book Review: Alton is great Summary: 4 Stars
I got this for my birthday. It is a practical guide whether you are setting up a kitchen or downsizing to just what you need. Recipes are included and instructions for making items into multi-taskers. Wonderful gift for an Alton fan.
