Book Reviews of Alton Brown's Gear for Your KitchenBook Review: Entertaining & Informative Summary: 5 Stars
If you enjoy Alton's offbeat style on "Good Eats", you will similarly like his book. Chock full of info on the various types of cookware, appliances and utensils, along with Alton's recommendations. A few recipes are included. I really learned a lot. Reading the book was our impetus for cleaning out all of our kitchen cabinets and discarding junky, long-unused, or generally worthless gadgets. The result is a vastly better organized workspace that saves us time and aggravation every day. I also purchased a select few new items with Alton's help. Good job, Alton!
Book Review: Great "I want that" book Summary: 5 Stars
Mr. Brown's book brings together not only what he considers to be essential kitchen gear but also why each piece is considered essential. The description of the different methods of making knives, and the strengths and weaknesses of each type is great information and almost worth the price of the book. I know it has caused me to seriously look at my knife collection and make some changes. The book is packed with useful information. Mr. Brown does state what particular brands of this or that product he prefers, but always explains why. An excellent book!
Book Review: Simply the best Summary: 5 Stars
Have you ever wondered what the heck that item in your kitchen is that you mother got for you years ago? Well, wonder no more. Alton Brown has created a book that describes not just what every item is for, or what it does, but WHY it does it. This book is most informative and has recipes included as well.
If you are an avid kitchen gadget collector, this book is for you. If you aren't, this book is still for you because you will learn more about these items than you though you knew. Get the book, you won't be disappointed.
Book Review: We love this book and guess where it is now resting at... Summary: 5 Stars
We love Alton Brown, we have every one of his books he written and we enjoy watching him on Food Network.
I bought this book as I love gadgets and it was a fun read. One day we found it in our bathroom as someone decided to bring it in for a read and leave it there. It now became the key reading reference guide in our Guest Bathroom replacing some other magazines we leave around.
You can learn something everyday even in the bathroom.
Book Review: If you cook, you must read this. Summary: 5 Stars
Alton Brown is smart. The guy has a lot of common sense, which despite the term, is not all that common. There's a reason for every gadget he owns, and he explains them in detail. If you're a fan of "Good Eats" think of this book as an episode devoted to things that make cooking easier, as well as improving the quality of your food. The book includes a number of great recipies too. Again, this book is a must!
