Book Reviews of Again to CarthageBook Review: Good Things Come To All Who Wait Summary: 5 Stars
Many moons ago, I was fascinated by "Once A Runner", like just about everyone else who read it. I think that being a runner greatly enhances the enjoyment. It was a long wait for the sequel, but "Again To Carthage" is well worth it. I'm a 63 year old who has been running and competing for decades, and this book hits the spot. It includes the life experiences that come along with the territory of aging, and overall is a more mature book than is OAR. Like just about everyone else, I'd recommend that you read the first book first. The continuity helps. Once again, Parker has written a gem.
Book Review: Great fiction for runners to enjoy between training sessions Summary: 5 Stars
This is a truly great book; a worthy sequel to 'Once a Runner'. The book can be read by itself, but reading OAR first will give added depth to the main characters (hopefully you can find a copy of OAR for less than $200 or through some library). This book is a definite read for anyone who thinks of themselves as a runner or former runner. It probably will also be interesting for non runners, since it gives you a glimse into the world of runners. It also has a surprise ending!
Book Review: Welcome back, QC Summary: 5 Stars
In the parlance of its subject matter, this book was a negative split - it closed like a freight train. And as wonderfully uplifting the "discomfort" of a well-executed negative split can be, Again to Carthage was an equally enjoyable experience.
Congrats, JLP.

Book Review: Excellent! Summary: 5 Stars
Much like its predecessor, this book is intoxicating. Not only is this book an incredible glimpse into the running world, but it is an elegy of Florida, the way we once knew it.
Beautifully written and expertly crafted, this book takes us on a journey that runners of all distances will understand and enjoy. Quenton Cassidy is our companion on those lonely roads! Thank you John Parker!
Book Review: Runners be patient! Summary: 5 Stars
It's a great book overall, well written like the first, and grabs at runners in the same way as before--just not at first; it starts pretty slow. I was hankering for the same training and racing and eccentricity that drove Once a Runner, and had to get through fishing and office work first. But once Cassidy finally decides to go for the Marathon, the wait became all worth it. Definitely a re-read.
