Book Review: Great reference book for college Dreamweaver course!

With 30 years of teaching experience at the college level, I have been exposed to quite a few textbooks. In 2008, I began using David Karlin's book, Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques, for a Dreamweaver course that I teach at a community college of 25,000+ students. In the past, I had tried a variety of different textbooks that were basically cookie-cutter approaches to teaching web design. My students could follow the instructions in the book, but they struggled with building a web site on their own. Using Mr. Karlin's text as a primary reference book, I was able to teach them how to solve their own problems while developing their creative potential. For the first time in years, I saw major results!
When I updated course software to CS5, I was initially disheartened that there was not an Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques, but there was instead an Adobe Creative Suite CS5 Web Premium How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques. I struggled with the idea of incorporating Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash Catalyst, Flash, and Fireworks into my existing Dreamweaver course due to time constraints, but the students' final projects demonstrated that they not only understood how to control Dreamweaver, but also, how to incorporate a variety of visual design applications into the process.
I am very pleased to recommend both Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques and Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques to my students. These books are an excellent point of reference for Dreamweaver users.
