Book Review: Chaos Everyday!
Summary: 5 Stars
Have you ever had a summer where new and exciting things happen every single day? This book is called Absolutely Normal Chaos by Sharon Creech. I gave this book five stars! I gave it five stars because it's a great book for adolescents because it connects to everyone. It talks about families, friends, summer vacations, and more! This book is about a young girl (around thirteen years old) named Mary Lou who just got out of school and is exploring her summer vacation. Mary Lou's cousin is in her house for the entire summer. Mary Lou always has to pick up after him and he never talks and he stays in his room (the guest room). Although, he always comes out when there is food on the table and he eats like a horse! Mary Lou has to deal with her cousin, her crazy family, and her best friend. Mary Lou's best friend name is Beth Ann. Beth Ann is obsessed with her "divine" boyfriend who is really snotty. Also, Beth Ann was invited to a slumber party where the enemies of Beth Ann and Mary Lou are going to be. Will she go? Lastly, Mary Lou also has a love life of her own! The genre of this book is realistic fiction. It has a lot of humor and a sprinkle of mystery.
In the book there were a lot of good characters. My favorite character of the book was, of course, Mary Lou. I really like Mary Lou because she is always true to her self and unlike Beth Ann, just because she has a boyfriend it doesn't change her or the way she thinks. The author, Sharon Creech did a lot of wonderful things to make this book come alive. She made it seem like you were the character instead of just reading words on a page. Sharon made all of the characters come alive. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of realistic fiction. Someone who enjoys laughing when reading, but still being a little mystified. Summary of Absolutely Normal Chaos
Mary Lou Finney is less than excited about her assignment to keep a journal over the summer. Boring! Then cousin Carl Ray comes to stay with her family, and what starts out as the dull dog days of summer quickly turns into the wildest roller coaster ride of all time.
How was Mary Lou suppose to know what would happen with Carl Ray and the ring? Or with her boy-crazy best friend Beth Ann? Or with (sigh) the permanently pink Alex Cheevey? Suddenly a boring school project becomes a record of the most exciting, incredible, unbelievable summer of Mary Lou's life.
But what if her teacher actually does read her journal?
