Book Reviews of A Wrinkle in Time (Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quintet)

Book Review: An old and treasured friend
Summary: 5 Stars

I've always wanted to thank Madeleine L'Engle in person for this wonderful gift of words and thoughts and dreams. It wasn't too long after "A Wrinkle in Time" was first published that I discovered it tucked away on a library shelf. I was in the third grade and went through books like a mower through grass. But this book... this book captured me. I fell madly in love with Meg and Charles and their three stellar friends. Over the years I've revisited them more times than I can count and have never ceased to be swept into Ms. L'Engle's magical world. This is Harry Potter with layers and meaning. This is a story that entranced a young girl and continues its hold on the mature woman she became. I recommend this especially for girls. More than any other story I can remember reading as a child, "Wrinkle" celebrates intelligence and individuality. It's a valuable lesson to learn.

Book Review: A fulfilling and especially exciting novel...
Summary: 5 Stars

For young readers around the world, I would reccommend this book to many. This book, itself, is exceptional because of how the author goes in depth into the minds of the characters, especially Meg, the dull, yet intelligent and delightful young woman. The main synopsis is that Meg, her brother and a friend incredibly travel through time to reach Meg's father, who dissappeared years ago. They encounter mind powerful villans, such as "IT" and there is always something that you can look forward to in the next chapter. The setting of the novel changes as the three travel in search of their mission and is wonderful to follow along to. You will find this book enjoying just as I did and I truely do believe that this is one book that you will enjoy.

Book Review: Wow...I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am 30 years old, soon to be 31 next month. I have never been much of a reader until I got a hold of the Harry Potter series. Well, I read all of those, and was looking for something to read and was told that a Wrinkle In Time is a wonderful story. Well, a wonderful story is an understatement. I LOVED IT, I would have to say I think I loved it more than Harry Potter, and believe me when I say I really love Harry Potter. Well, I think that every family should have a copy of this book in their home. It helps us realize that there is something greater than ourselves, and that even though we may have our faults that being ourselves is still important and why we were put her by our creator to be who we are, not who eveyone else wants us to be.

Book Review: More than just a children's book
Summary: 5 Stars

More than 30 years ago, I came across A Wrinkle in Time on the shelf of my elementary school library. Reading it was a watershed event in my life, perhaps in part because I could identify so much with both the Meg and Calvin characters--with Meg because she didn't feel like she fit in, and with Calvin because his home life was so problematic. Also fascinating to me were the deep philosophical issues raised by the book, which are so ably presented at a level a child can comprehend. I remember clearly the feeling of hope that I had about my own situation in life after I finished reading the book. Ms. L'Engle truly authored a classic that will stand the test of time, and I am very much in her debt. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Book Review: A favorite again after 22 years!
Summary: 5 Stars

"A Wrinkle In Time" was and is undoubtedly one of the best books ever written. I too, like many others read it at 11 yrs old. I became fascinated with the possibility that there are unknown worlds in this universe. My interest in science fiction began with this story and twenty three years later, at age 33, I recently used this book's theory of time travel the "tesseract or wrinkle" as an interior design concept. Amazing that I chose this one from the many books that I've read, but this story with its wonderful characters inspire, titillate the curious and satisfy our belief in the power of good. Time travel into other worlds was considered fantasy, but today, Ms. L'Engle's story may be closer to reality than we think
