Book Review: A book for everyone to read

A Thousand Splendid Suns is Khaled Hossini's best work to date. While the Kite Runner is ground breaking, this book is the one book everyone should read to understand what has been happening in Afganistan. After you read it, you will never be the same, will never think the same, and will be eternally grateful for the many blessing you have in the US or Europe. After reading Kite Runner (highly recommend) I sought out A Thousand Splendid Suns. There is something about Khaled Hosseini's writing that is so addictive, so inspiring, so touching that you can't help but feel compassion for the young children in his stories. In Kite Runner we were introduced to two young boys, in A Thousand Splendid Suns we meet a young Afghan girl. Both stories are filled with hardship, with turmoil, with events that only allow us to glimpse the horrors of growing up in a war-torn part of the world. A must read!! Also, if you missed reading Khaled Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns, go and read it. Purple Hibiscus: A Novel It's so addictive. I had a difficult time reading "A Thousand Splendid Suns," because of the dull sense of horror I couldn't shake throughout the book. Hosseini does a perfect job of putting the reader in the shoes of his characters, and in much of this novel that is an uncomfortable place to be.
An incredible message of human perseverence under the most crushing and awful of conditions, I couldn't help but feel discouraged at the end of the novel. Afghanistan again slipping into the tribal and religious war described in the book, while Americans sit safe at home without a clue as to what some people face on a daily basis.
This is an excellent book for anyone who is interested in peeking into this far off land of Afghanistan, and the trials it has and continues to experience. Well written, well paced, one can almost enjoy this book inspite of the horrors described on every page.
Book Review: A sad but captivating read

I read this book before I read his first book, The Kite Runner. This actually helped remove any expectation and made the Kite Runner seem more optimistic. I would recommend reading them out of order to anyone who hasn't read any of his books yet. This book presents a hard reality but offers a lot of insight, inspiration and education within its pages. I really enjoyed it and was sad to be done.Book Review: One Unbelievable Book!!

I read Kite Runner, which was so outstanding, I could barely put it down while reading. I enjoyed reading Hosseini's work so much, I immediately went out and bought A Thousand SPlendid Suns. From the first few sentences I was hooked! Both Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, are so fantastic. I do think that I did enjoy this book more than Kite Runner. I stongly recommend both books to everyone out there. Whether your into reading or not, you should pick up Housseini's books and see what a wonderful writer he is! He truly captures your heart with each and every character in the book. It makes it hard for you to choose which character's side you are on!
Keep on writing Khaled Hosseini! I can't wait to read what's next...
