I am deeply concerned with Joe's convictions because as a Christian therapist, I have met with clients that have been moved away from Joe's interpretive stances and resulting teachings regarding non-heterosexuality. The homosexuality in the Scriptures was sin but I do not believe nor do I support the belief that God, Hashem, in His/Her love for diversity did not create some people with a sexual orientation that is not heterosexual. Biology does not make a person fall in love. The marriage of the heart is what I believe Jesus Christ would hope for us. There are boundaries around sexual expression that are associated with the ethics of love. Joe claims that non-heterosexual love is something that is idolotry and gets in the way of a connection with Christ Consciousnes. I have not experienced this with non-heterosexual Christians I know. I have seen the fruits of the Spirit within many of the GLBT partnerships that hold a sincere and serious relationship to Christ. I find it unkind to assume that they are not capable or that to God, their love is not legitmate or "accountable". I also do not believe the creation texts of male to female translates into husband and wife. I hope Joe will be open and receptive to doing furhter study regarding marriage in the Scriptures as well as learn a bit about the language of Jesus which was Aramaic and therefore poetic and drenched in Metaphor.
I am working on my own story and it is called,'The Rude Awakening". I hope Joe will read it and respond. I wish him peace and continued awakening to Christ Consciousness.
