Book Reviews of A Short Guide to a Happy LifeBook Review: I loved this book! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a big fan of Anna Quindlen and have enjoyed everything she has written. I was not disappointed at all in her latest book. This book does contain cliches, but so what? I enjoyed being reminded of what is important in life and what is not. She has compiled wonderful words of widsom in, as one reviewer states, pamphlet form, but what is wrong with that? It is short and to the point. I will be sharing this book with those I love as a Christmas present and hope they enjoy it as much as I did. By the way, I really enjoyed the drawings also.
Book Review: Short and Sweet Summary: 5 Stars
Sometimes the best things really do come in small packages. It is precisely because of the length that Anna Quindlen's little book was just what I needed. I think this will make a wonderful gift to anyone who is in the hospital, recovering from a traumatic event, or simply taking time to reflect on what's most important in life. It's not just about getting a life, but recognizing how intensely precious the life you have really is. You never know how much the things and people you take for granted are worth until they're gone. Why wait?
Book Review: Wonderful words to live by!! Summary: 5 Stars
Having lost my beloved 12 year old son to brain cancer, I am always drawn to authors who have faced adversity & loss in their own lives. Anna knows in her heart of hearts how to look at the sky for beauty and hope, so she can teach us something....which she certainly does in this wonderful little book. She gives new meaning to the words "get a life"...how to use our losses to help us see the real beauty of each day. I shall certainly buy this book for my college-age daughter. Thanks, Anna!
Book Review: The title says it ALL! Summary: 5 Stars
What an absolute gem!If you're looking for the usual self-help, get in touch with your inner child, how-to, been there-know how you feel, flowery books leave this one on the shelf. If you're looking for a real down to earth person with a prescription for developing a no nonsense passion for living, Anna's your girl. Her book is written with style, humor, and grace. No doubt, this is the shortest book I have ever read but one that will certainly leave a lasting impact.
